Bellator 243 adds Christian Edwards, Dalton Rosta, six others to prelims
The Bellator 243 lineup is filling up with four fights having been recently added to the preliminary portion of the card.
The Aug. 7 additions include Christian Edwards (3-0 MMA, 3-0 BMMA) vs. Ahmed Samir (1-1 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) at a 210-pound catchweight, Nainoa Dung (3-1 MMA, 2-1 BMMA) vs. Charlie Campbell (1-1 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) at lightweight, Dalton Rosta (2-0 MMA, 2-0 BMMA) vs. Mark Gardner (1-1 MMA, 1-1 BMMA) at middleweight, and Grant Neal (3-0 MMA, 2-0 BMMA) vs. Hamza Salim (5-2 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) at light heavyweight.
A Bellator official informed MMA Junkie of the matchups Tuesday. Dung vs. Campbell was first announced by KHON.
Edwards, a recipient of the Jackson Wink-Mata Leon scholarship, is a training partner of UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones. In November, Edwards, 21, went viral with a vicious 16-second head kick knockout over Cesar Bennett.
Rosta, 24, gained notoriety as one of the best light heavyweight amateurs in the United States before turning professional in early 2019. In his two Bellator appearances, Rosta has finished both opponents via TKO.
Hawaii’s Dung, 21, will look to rebound from his first career loss in December when he dropped a unanimous decision to DWCS alumnus Zach Zane. Dung has finished two of his three pro victories.
Neal has won both of his Bellator fights. After defeating Jimmy Lugo by unanimous decision in his promotional debut, Neal defeated Claude Wilcox by TKO in February.
Bellator 243 takes place Aug. 7 at Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Conn. The main card simulcasts on Paramount Network and DAZN after prelims on MMA Junkie.
