Bobby King hopes to sign Bellator deal after win over Keoni Diggs: ‘I’m putting on a fight every time’

"

HONOLULU – Bobby King is hoping he can call Bellator his permanent home after picking up his third promotional win.

King (12-4 MMA, 2-1 BMMA) edged out Keoni Diggs in an entertaining scrap Saturday at Bellator 279 at Neal S. Blaisdell Center in what was another one-off fight. Having also notched wins over Nick Newell and formerly unbeaten Aviv Gozali, King is aiming for both a spot in the rankings and a Bellator contract.

“I fought two top 10 guys, and the one guy that did beat me, he pretty much laid on me for two rounds and didn’t do much on the ground,” King told MMA Junkie and others at Bellator 279. “I mean, let’s put a number behind my name. Come on, Bellator.”

He continued, “I’m putting on a fight every time. We go out there and put on a show, and I’m here to fight.”

At 38, King knows he’s no spring chicken, but he’s confident that his method of training will continue to aid in his longevity in the sport.

“I train smart. I’ve always trained smart. I’ve always trained like a champion,” King said. “Throughout my career, I didn’t get into a lot of brawls. Fight smart, don’t get hit a lot, and we stay sharp, we stay in the gym. I train with top-level champions, so what can I say? It’s the way I fight.”
