Conor McGregor urges NAC to ‘please relax’ on Deontay Wilder-Tyson Fury faceoff ban

Conor McGregor does not agree with the Nevada Athletic Commission on this one.

The NAC on Thursday decided to ban Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury from engaging in anymore staredowns ahead of their highly anticipated rematch at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. ESPN reported that Wilder and Fury won’t be able to face off on Friday after they weigh in for their heavyweight championship boxing bout.

The decision comes after both Wilder and Fury got physical during their final press conference. The incident didn’t escalate to anything significant, but they did exchange words and shoves before security stepped in.

McGregor, who’s had some interesting faceoffs in the past, especially in Las Vegas, doesn’t like the NAC’s decision. He suggested the commission allow the faceoff but take precautionary measures to avoid any physical altercations.

“Guys, please relax here,” McGregor tweeted. “Vegas commission, you are one of thee best commissions, bar none, for impeccably handling events of unpredictability. Place men between the men. Security on stage. Let them get one last look at each other. The last look before it’s really f*cking on.”

During the press conference, Wilder and Fury stood on stage without anyone in between them.

McGregor, of course, was involved in one of Las Vegas’ biggest “events of unpredictability” when, after his loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov in October 2018, a brawl broke out thanks to the UFC champ leaping over the cage to attack McGregor’s corner.

McGregor was suspended seven months for his involvement in that incident. It’s clear the NAC is looking to avoid any such thing happening before Wilder and Fury enter the ring.

Wilder and Fury fought to a draw in December 2018.
