Did you know Taylor Guardado’s uncle is former NFL running back Chuck Muncie?

"

It turns out 2021 PFL finalist Taylor Guardado’s uncle was a standout football player.

In a recent interview with MMA Junkie Radio, Guardado (3-1) revealed her uncle is Chuck Muncie, who was a running back for the New Orleans Saints and San Diego Chargers in the NFL.

Muncie, who played nine seasons, finished his career with 6,702 rushing yards, 263 receptions for 2,323 yards and 74 touchdowns. Drug problems ultimately derailed his career, and he served time in prison before turning his life around by helping others through his “Chuck Muncie Youth Foundation.” Muncie died in 2013.

Guardado’s other uncles, Bill and Nelson Munsey, were also professional football players. The 32-year-old shared some advice they used to give her before she became a fighter.

“Before I even was a professional athlete, I got advice from my uncles that played in the NFL, and that was back when I was running track and field,” Guardado said. “I went to the Junior Olympics in track and field, but they always just told me to remain focused. They told me to keep the goal in mind but focus on whatever is in front of you, first and foremost. So whatever task was ahead of me was more important than the task at the end – which is obviously to win.”

That advice especially pertains to PFL’s season and playoff format. Guardado has picked up three wins en route to a final showdown against reigning lightweight champ Kayla Harrison, which headlines the 2021 PFL Championship on Oct. 27.
