MMA’s week out of the cage: Dana White turns 50, Al Iaquinta trains Bagel Boss Guy

Social media has become a significant part of the sporting landscape. But few, if any, professional sports match the level of interaction and personal access provided by MMA.

In an individual competition in which nearly every athlete is chasing the same goal of financial success and championship glory, it’s important for fighters to provide insight into their lives in order to connect with fans and gain followings.

Although the life of a fighter often can be mundane and repetitive, there still are moments of interest that take place outside the cage, ring or training room. Here are some of the most interesting of those occurrences from the past week.

MMA fighters train Bagel Boss Guy

Take another look at Chris Moran, the “bagel boss guy.” For most of his life people have been putting him down. He had enough that day in the bagel shop. . Last night he came into the gym humble and willing to learn. The night started with him learning from us. As it went on his personality shined and he started entertaining us. At the end of the night he asked us if WE had a good time! Oh hell yea we did! He couldn’t believe that everyone was asking him for his autograph. Ive heard people saying he is just an angry little guy but in one night I realized he is a tremendous personality that most have probably been overlooking for his whole life. . I’m glad Chris is enjoying his new found popularity and is getting the attention he deserves. It was a pleasure having him around. . See you in the gym bro.

Max Holloway’s coach believes Ilia Topuria’s style works in their favor. Holloway (26-7 MMA, 22-7 UFC) captured the BMF title with a last-second knockout of Justin Gaethje in their lightweight bout at UFC 300. He has since gone back-and-forth with featherweight champion Topuria (15-0 MMA, 7-0 UFC), who could...
