Ovince Saint Preux has accepted a three-month suspension from the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency, it was announced Friday.
The UFC light heavyweight was put on the sidelines by USADA after testing positive for banned substances in an out-of-competition drug test conducted Nov. 1.
Saint Preux (24-13 MMA, 12-8 UFC) tested positive for ostarine and di-hydroxy-LGD-4033, a metabolite of LGD-4033, as well GW1516 sulfone and GW1516 sulfoxide, which are metabolites of GW1516 (also known as GW-501516). These substances are prohibited at all times under the UFC anti-doping policy.
After an investigation, USADA determined that Saint Preux was not at fault, as the banned substances came from contaminated supplements, which he turned over to USADA. The labels on the supplements didn’t list any of the banned substances.
USADA also was able to determine that Saint Preux’s exposure to these substances began Oct. 25, meaning Saint Preux’s suspension ended Jan. 25 and is now eligible to compete for the UFC.
Saint Preux, 36, last competed in September when he defeated Michal Oleksiejczuk with his signature Von Flue choke.
