Ronny Markes misses weight, but others on mark for PFL 2019, Week 6

Weigh-ins for Week 6 of the PFL’s second season went off mostly without a hitch.

After a trio of misses forced a last-minute scramble of matchups at Week 5, one bout was scratched for Thursday’s card when veteran light heavyweight Ronny Markes came in heavy for a fight with Daniel Spohn. Markes weighed in at 208.6 pounds, or 2.6 pounds over the allowable limit for the division. Spohn receives three points for his regular season totals with a walkover win.

It’s the second time Markes has missed weight in the PFL, as he received no points for a TKO of Sigi Pesaleli in Season 1 after he came in heavy.

Satoshi Ishii and Jared Rosholt weighed in without incident for a heavyweight headliner for the card at Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City, N.J.

The regular-season event now features five bouts at light heavyweight and six at heavyweight. Also debuting at the event is Umar Nurmagomedov, the cousin of UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, who will take on Sedico Honorio in his promotional debut as part of the “New Fighter Showcase” series.

Max Holloway’s coach breaks down matchup against ‘oversized bantamweight’ Ilia Topuria

Max Holloway’s coach believes Ilia Topuria’s style works in their favor.
