UFC 242 free fight: Relive Dustin Poirier’s epic win over Justin Gaethje
When Dustin Poirier vs. Justin Gaethje was announced as the main event of UFC on FOX 29, expectations were high.
And the fighters delivered.
One of 2018’s most epic showdowns went down in Glendale, Ariz,, as two lightweight warriors with histories of exciting fights collided.
It was a memorable battle in which Geathje, the hometown favorite, appeared to turn the tide in the third round, only to have Poirier come flying out of the gate in the fourth and finish matters via TKO at the 33-second mark.
Both fighters took home a well-deserved “Fight of the Night” bonus. In Poirier’s case, it’s part of a string of five consecutive wins in which he’s earned a bonus each time out.
Now, Poirier, the interim lightweight champion, is getting set to meet full lightweight titleholder Khabib Nurmagomedov in the main event of UFC 242.
