The event takes place at Scottrade Center in St. Louis. The card airs on FS1 following early prelims on UFC Fight Pass.

In the main event, Jeremy Stephens (26-14 MMA, 13-13 UFC) and Dooho Choi (14-2 MMA, 3-1 UFC) meet in a featherweight bout. Jessica-Rose Clark (8-4 MMA, 1-0 UFC) and Paige VanZant (7-3 MMA, 4-2 UFC) fight in the women’s flyweight co-feature following the removal of the middleweight fight between Uriah Hall, who could not weight in, and Vitor Belfort, who was planning to retire after one final fight.

Talita Bernardo vs. Irene Aldana

Round 1 – Aldana opens up with a nice straight right in the opening moments. She looks for the uppercut moments later, misses, but ends up landing another right. Aldana timed a right perfectly over the top to counter Bernardo, who has blood trickling from her nose. Aldana wobbles Bernardo with another huge right hand, but Bernardo fends off the onslaught as they go to the mat. It’s a mad scramble for Bernardo, who is trying to survive. She ends up settling in on a single leg up against the cage. Aldana’s whizzer is preventing Bernardo from taking her down. They separate with 40 seconds left. Aldana stifles a takedown attempt, and Bernardo lays on the mat. Aldana doesn’t follow her and instead ends the final 20 seconds raining down some hard rights. 10-9 Aldana.

Round 2 – Bernardo’s face is swollen up, and Aldana comes out letting her hands go again. Aldana is stalking Bernardo, mixing it up between single punches and 1-2 combos. She’s having her way with Bernardo on the feet. Bernardo, however, shoots for a takedown to counter the attack and fights to get it. Aldana is on her back, trying to lock up a triangle, but Bernardo breaks free and into full guard with 2:30 left. Aldana, for some reason, is pulling Bernardo in close rather than trying to break away. Aldana is working from the bottom with elbows and punches. She tries to explode out but can’t. They’re near the cage, with Bernardo on top. But she isn’t taking advantage of the position. Aldana is able to push her off finally, and Bernardo eats a few up-kicks before Aldana tries to stand. The round ends with a wasted Bernardo takedown attempt. A better round for Bernardo, but she did nothing with her position. … 10-9 Aldana.

Round 3 – They touch gloves to open the final frame. Neither woman comes out too aggressively, with Aldana throwing her jab. She sprawls and pushes off a takedown attempt by Bernardo. Aldana is being selective with her punches now, but she’s the one stalking. Aldana lands a couple jabs, and Bernardo responds with a lazy takedown attempt. Three minutes in, the round belongs to Aldana. Suddenly, though, Bernardo comes alive and starts to throw, landing some rights. Aldana responds with some good shots of her own. Bernardo is rocked by an Aldana punch as she shoots in for a takedown. That leads to a scramble on the mat, which ends with Bernardo on top, but Aldana reverses the position with 30 seconds left. She’s in Bernardo’s guard and lets her up. Aldana goes back to work, and Bernardo shoots for one last unsuccessful takedown as the fight ends. 10-9 Aldana. … 30-27 overall for Aldana.

Kyung Ho Kang vs. Guido Cannetti

Round 1 – Kang’s reach advantage is very clear, and he looks relaxed to open the fight with his arm swinging. Cannetti tries to get things going with a couple of kicks. Cannetti throws a head kick that wakes up Kang, who then eats a hard left that rocks him. Cannetti follows up with a takedown and is on top. He doesn’t do much from the position, though, and they stand up moments later. Cannetti throws another high kick that lands. Moments later up against the cage, it’s Cannetti throwing hands with success. He rocks Kang, but Kang finally gets busy with about 1:15 to go and closes distance with a combination and transitions to a takedown. Kang is on top until Cannetti tries to slip out. He ends up in a triangle, but he lifts Kang in the air. He puts Kang up against the fence, but the triangle is tight on the way down, Cannetti taps in the final seconds. Tremendous poise shown by Kang after getting rocked early.

Kalindra Faria vs. Jessica Eye

Round 1 – Both ladies come out throwing and each land a big right. Faria lets go with a couple of kicks, one high and one to the leg. Faria then lands a huge head-kick that rocks Eye. They stumble to the ground, and in a crazy sequence both women try for heel locks. Faria wins out and keeps control of the heel, but Jessica goes back for it after initially letting go. Eye keeps hold of the heel even as Faria tries to stand and break loose. Eye is squeezing hard, but Faria is doing what she needs to in order to defend. This is a wild display of jiu-jitsu going on. Faria tries to get her right leg around eyes head as she works on the heel lock. They sit and face each other with their legs tangled still, throwing elbows and punches at each other. Round 1 ends up being 4 minutes of a back-and-forth leg-lock battle. Tough round to score, but Faria did land the big head-kick to set it off. … 10-9 Faria.

Round 2 – Eye closes the distance in the early going, looking for a takedown. Pressed up against the cage with double unders, she sneaks around on Faria’s back and drops down to the mat. Eye has her back completely right now with Faria on top. A hand fight ensues as Eye is looking for a rear-naked choke. Eye has a full body triangle on Faria as they continue to struggle with their hands. Faria is trying to spin into Eye, who is doing a great job shifting with the movement. Faria turns onto all fours, but Eye transitions beautifully to keep her back. Eye finally unlocks her legs but continues to go for the choke. The round is a total grind, with Eye controlling more than 3 minutes of it. … 10-9 Eye.

Round 3 – This should be the deciding round, and both women come out in the first 30 seconds feeling each other out. Faria goes for a flying knee that might’ve landed on the chest but did no damage. Eye responds with a couple of straight lefts, and Faria throws a nice side kick to the face. Faria is throwing big so far, with Eye looking to just score. Eye’s corner is yelling for her to use the jab, which was effective earlier in the round. Eye shoots for a takedown with 2:20 left and gets it, ending up in Faria’s guard. This is a big moment that could decide the round. Eye surprisingly lets Faria back up after 45 seconds. They’re pressed against the cage, and Eye is able to trip Faria back down to the mat. Eye isn’t striking much and is just laying on Faria with 30 seconds left. The fight ends with Eye on top, but this is a tough one to score given Faria landing the more good-looking strikes vs. Eye’s takedowns and mat control. … 10-9 Faria. … 29-28 overall for Faria (reluctantly).

Danielle Taylor vs. J.J. Aldrich

Round 1 – The height and reach advantages for Aldrich are immediately noticeable when they come to the center. Taylor strikes first with a nice inside leg kick that drops Aldrich, but she’s right back up. Aldrich lands the first significant two-punch combo, ending with a strong left. Taylor continues to move and stay out of range, trying to pick her spots. Aldrich can’t quite figure out the right time to throw hands. Taylor breaks up the standing when she closes distance and ends up in Aldrich’s clinch. They push against the fence before Aldrich scores the takedown. She’s on top and in Taylor’s half-guard. She’s trying to peel her left leg out to get into side control. Aldrich spends the final minute on top, which secures her the round after going back and forth on the feet. … 10-9 Aldrich.

Round 2 – The second round begins same as the first, with both women trying to figure out range. Aldrich throws with a little bit more volume and is finding some success. Taylor isn’t as active, seemingly content with Aldrich leading the way and Taylor looking to counter. Aldrich crouches down to Taylor’s level briefly. There isn’t much action in the first 3 minutes. Aldrich lands a couple of nice jabs. Taylor responds moments later with a hard straight right that gets Aldrich’s attention. The round is up for grabs as the final minute approaches. Aldrich turns it on with two nice body kicks, and Taylor responds with a two-punch counter. Aldrich turned it on enough in the final 60 seconds to steal the round. … 10-9 Aldrich.

Round 3 – Aldrich comes out in the third letting loose, landing a couple of nice combos that keep Taylor on the outside. Aldrich taunts Taylor to meet her in the middle. She lands a nice spinning backfist 60 seconds in that gets the crowd going. It’s clear that Aldrich is comfortable now. Aldrich lands a big left and avoids the counter. Taylor can’t figure out how to close the distance. Taylor’s left eye is visibly swollen now. Aldrich continues to press forward and wear Taylor down with the jab. The few shots Taylor has landed haven’t affected Aldrich, who is walking through them. Taylor eats one last straight left in the final seconds. 10-9 Aldrich. … 30-27 overall for Aldrich.

Mads Burnell vs. Mike Santiago

Round 1 – Santiago throws a quick right away that is caught by Burnell, and he goes in for a takedown. He gets it and looks to pass right away. Burnell is able to move into side control as Santiago attacks with elbows from his back. Santiago is able to slide back against the cage and stand up, but Burnell continues to cling and is looking to get it back down. Santiago sprawls and is in control, grabbing hold of Burnell’s neck. He’s going for a guillotine as he also throws knees. Santiago gives up the guillotine attempt, and Burnell is back trying to get a takedown. They’re pressed up against the cage with Burnell applying the pressure until Santiago reverses the position and gets it down to the mat. Santiago was looking to bait Burnell into a choke and briefly gets hold of his neck. Nothing comes of it, though. They end up back on the mat with Burnell going for a leg lock. They stand up to end the round still clinging to each other. The round ends with Santiago taking him down one last time. Good round by both fighters, a sort of chess match. Tough to score. 10-9 Santiago.

Round 2 – The frame opens with a big left left leg kick, which triggers an exciting exchange between both fighters. Santiago halts it, though, with a takedown and is in top position, looking to mount. They struggle for position as Santiago seems to look to either posture for ground-and-pound or take his neck. Santiago has Burnell flat on his back but isn’t able to do much with his right leg stuck in Burnell’s guard. Burnell again looks for leg lock and eats a hammerfist. Santiago tries to escape, and Burnell follows him to the cage, looking for a takedown, but he eats a knee. He’s tough, though, and still gets the takedown and is able to take Santiago’s back. Burnell starts to rain down punches , forcing Santiago to turn to his back, which gives Burnell full mount. He continues with the ground-and-pound, and Santiago tries to stand up with Burnell still on his back. Burnell flattens him out on his stomach and goes for a rear-naked choke. He has it in tight at one point, and the final 20 seconds end with Santiago struggling to fight it. 10-9 Burnell.

Round 3 – Santiago comes out as the aggressor with kicks and punches, which Burnell counters by catching a kick and looking for the takedown. They’re pressed up against the cage, Burnell still fighting to get the action back to the mat. He finally does 90 seconds in and ends up on top. Santiago can’t seem to figure out what he wants to do from the bottom. He tries turning but settles back flat and throws elbows. Fatigue could be setting in with all the grappling in this fight. With 2 minutes left, Burnell is keeping the pressure on in dominant position with lefts and rights to the body. Burnell is in side control before taking Santiago’s back with 1 minute left. Santiago manages to scramble back to the feet, but Burnell will not give him an inch. He’s stuck to Santiago against the cage and fighting to get it back to the ground in the final 30 seconds. The fight ends with Burnell grinding it out. He really took over the second half of the fight with his grappling. 10-9 Burnell. … 29-28 overall for Burnell.
