Felicia Spencer was out to put a violent performance and she did just that Saturday night.
The former Invicta FC champion had one of her most dominant performances of her career at UFC on ESPN+ 27. Spencer (8-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) stopped Zarah Fairn with vicious ground-and-pound at the 3:37 mark of the first round of their 145-pound contest.
The featherweight bout was the UFC on ESPN+ 27 co-main event at Chartway Arena in Norfolk, Va. It streamed on ESPN+.
It didn’t take long for the fight to hit the canvas. Fairn (6-4 MMA, 0-2 UFC) attempted to keep her distance and use her rangy striking, but Spencer was able to close the distance early and get a takedown. From that point on, it was all Spencer.
The Canadian fighter moved to mount with ease and began to drop heavy punches and elbows on Fairn. Unable to get out of mount or improve position, referee Dan Miragliotta had no choice but to wave off the fight.
With this result, Spencer managed to bounce back from her first professional defeat, which came to former UFC, Strikeforce, and Invicta and current Bellator titleholder Cris Cyborg back in July.
In her post-fight interview, Spencer said she’s in a “perfect spot” to challenge champ-champ Amanda Nunes for her featherweight title.

Henry Cejudo doesn’t think Bo Nickal is quite ready for the top after UFC 300. Nickal (6-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) remained unbeaten when he submitted Cody Brundage (10-6 MMA, 4-5 UFC) in Round 2 of Saturday’s main card opener at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Nickal gave himself two...
