UFC on ESPN 6 reactions: Winning and losing fighters on social media

Since the early days when the sport was anything but a mainstream endeavor, the MMA industry has thrived and survived through various websites, forums, and – perhaps most importantly – social-media platforms.

Fighters interact with fans, each other and many more through the likes of Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, which helps outsiders get a deeper look into the minds of the athletes.

Following Friday’s UFC on ESPN 6 in Boston, several of the winning and losing fighters, along with their coaches, training partners or family members, took to social media to react to the event or share a message with supporters.

Check out some of those reactions.

Took a tough loss the other night so I’ve been keeping away from talking to everyone the past couple days. The mental part of the game is one that’s tough to get a grasp on sometimes, and I want to make sure I’m giving myself, my team, friends and family the best Manny possible every time I fight, so I’m talking a little bit of time off to get myself together mentally and in my personal life. I love the sport still, am proud of what I’ve accomplished and I know I’ve got a ton more to give. I’m not sure where I am with the UFC and what plans they have for me, but I’m looking forward to making this (annoying long🙄) setback into what motivates me to be better, and helps me reach my highest potential in terms of who I am and how I fight. Thanks to my team again for watching out for me and for my friends and family for checking in on me. Only thing that kinda sucks is that most people’s “teaching moments” don’t happen on national TV like that (😐🤦🏽‍♂️😂) but I know as soon as I get this together that I’m going to be a nightmare for the league 🤘🏽✊🏽😤

Got the UD win over a durable Daniel Spitz. I feel good and I’m not at all injured. I of course have to thank my coach Jeff Montemurro who came to Boston to corner me. My striking was on point thanks to coach Keijiro at Frank Lee’s Muay Thai, as well as Sifu Frank Lee himself who is always giving me pointers and things to work on. Paul Peddle with PPS (Paul Peddle Services) made the trip down and brought my training partner Teddy Ash with him to come corner me as well which was a huge benefit to me, so thank you PPS! Also big shoutouts to Premier Built Garages for being a new sponsor of mine and to MealKraft for helping me get into what was probably the best shape of my life. My success yesterday is a reflection of the hard work our team puts in day in and day out. The Shaved Bears are the best team in Canada. We’re not coming. We’re already here. #UFCBoston @mealkraft #PPS #PremierBuiltGarages @ufc #IfItsYouWhoClimbTheMountainItsYouWhoReachThePeak #PhilCollins @shavedbears_mma #ShavedBears @frankleesgym @little_sweatshop

It’s a comeback story of a life time 🎶. Been a brilliant 10 months for me and my team. From the ashes we have risen. So just gonna take the time to thank my boys. Game plans are put in place, strategy is executed and the wins come. @nextgenmmalpool has brought my over Mma game up a million miles this last few years. @ellis155 has brought my striking into take downs and scrambles on ten fold. And our @thai_coach_si never fails with striking sequences for every eventuality in the cage. Also it’s his birthday today. So can we give him a massive happy birthday. My sparring partners thank you! For every round. I’m working so hard to be the best me I can every time I getin there. To my friends who traveled to Boston I love you. Finally. @ufceurope @ufc thank you for the opportunity to fight in such a prestigious venue AGAIN! X

. I have a great team, there are plenty of words to express such gratitude, not only to my coaches but also to my friends and my family for always being with me. Despite all the bitterness that can become an experience, we always look for the positive side of things and improve as human beings. I had a pending account against a great rival, I knew it would be a hard test in my career but I feel grateful and blessed by God for the opportunity to win this victory. Focused and improving day by day, I am sure that I will reach the top in this world. I go with everything and everything but I do not go alone .. . I HAVE A GREAT TEAM! . My respects for this warrior who, despite all that happened before this fight at the end, showed respect and that this is only part of the “business” business. . I only seek to face the best of the best in the division and I hope that the @ufc after 9 fights for them, within which 8 are victories, 7 bonuses for fights and performances of the night, give me the opportunity to fight Soon for a world title.
