UFC on FOX 27 discussion thread

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – MMAjunkie is on scene and reporting live from today’s UFC on FOX 27 event, and you can join us for live play-by-play and official results beginning at 4 p.m. ET (1 p.m. PT).

The event takes place at Spectrum Center in Charlotte, N.C. The main card airs on FOX following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass.

In the main event, Ronaldo Souza (24-5 MMA, 7-2 UFC) meets fellow middleweight contender Derek Brunson (18-5 MMA, 9-3 UFC), and in the co-headliner, veteran featherweight Dennis Bermudez (16-7 MMA, 9-5 MMA) takes on Andre Fili (17-5 MMA, 5-4 UFC).

Jordan Rinaldi vs. Gregor Gillespie

Round 1 – Rinaldi active early with leg kicks and the ducks in to hooks. Gillespie chases and puts his left hand on Gillespie who lands a head kick and doesn’t even deter Gillespie’s forward charge. Rinaldi leaps with a knee and Gillespie has his leg. Rinadi out before Gillespie can convert. Gillespie grabs the leg again and gets the easy single. Wraps the head in half-guard and works to pass on top. Contemplating guillotine. Rinaldi hanging tight so far. Gillespie passes to side mount. Gillespie thinking about his next move. Rinaldi gives up mount. Gillespie in control and grapevines the legs. Gillespie takes the back as Rinaldi scrambles. Rinaldi shrimps and escapes to half-guard. Gillespie again gets the mount, then quarter mount. Rinaldi can’t keep up and again gives up mount. Gillespie setting up choke. Rinaldi scrambles and gets to his hands and knees. Gillespie at his back and hoists him back to the mat with less than one minute to go. Gillespie riding and takes the back, pounding away with a few punches. Back mount, and Gillespie pounding away with punches. Rinaldi has nowhere to go, and Gillespie fires off punches until the referee is forced to call it off.

Drew Dober vs. Frank Camacho

Round 1 – Camacho presses back Dober with jabs, then goes to the body, drawing a leg kick. Southpaw Dober misses on a straight, but landds a nice right and leg kick. They punch into the clinch, and Camacho walks Dober to the cage. They trade knees, and Dober reverses. Camacho reverses and takes Dober down. In side control, Camacho works short punches. Dober explodes and scoots to the cage before standing up. Knee to the head in the clinch. Camacho on the pursuit, and gets countered with an uppercut. Again, he does it again. Dober just a bit short, and Camacho is starting to work with his punches. Nice body kick for Dober, and follows with his leg. Dober goes with straight to the body. He’s trying to work an angle and let loose with his punches. Dober ducks into clinch. Camacho breaks off. The two clinch again, and Camacho trips Dober to the mat once again. Elbows from the bottom from Camacho. Dober again explodes and Camacho tries to keep top position. Near arm-triangle position, and Dober thinks about an arm triangle before the two settle in guard. Dober grabs and arm and tries for an armbar, but he doesn’t have the angle. The two trade short punches before Dober powers to his feet. In the final exchange, Dober gets wobbled with a right hand as the bell sounds. MMAjunkie scores the opening frame 10-9 for Camacho.

Round 2 – The two trade punches early and Dober shoots in for a takedown. They clinch, and Dober needs several attempts before he gets Camacho down. But Camacho turns the tables and reverses on the way down, and he’s again on top. Dober scoots away and gets back to his feet. Camacho to the body Dober closes. Straight left for Dober and Camacho looks like he’s out of gas. Dober attaks the body. Dober all over Camacho, who’s on wobbly legs. Finally, Camacho circles off and gets back to the center of the cage. It’s a different fight, just seconds in. Camacho still has the power, but Dober is just in his face, firing left hands. They’re tagging him over and over. Camacho resets and tries to get his breath. Dober on the counter, slams left hands in over and over. Camacho’s counters don’t have the steam. Dober all over him. Camacho firing from lowered hands. High kick slams into Camacho. Camacho digs to the body and then pursues Dober to land a lunging knee. He might be recovering now. But Dober is just more active. Jabs and straight rights landing regularly for Dober. Big right hand, and Camacho is on the retreat. Camacho still has the fight and firing back. They trade big right hands. Dober is taking them and continues to fire at a higher rate. Camacho takes a pair of rights as he tries to win back some points with a final push. MMAjunkie scores the frame 10-9 for Camacho, and it’s even at 19-19.

Round 3 – Touch of gloves, and Dober lands a straight left and then another. Camacho lands a right hand and Dober pushes for a takedown to no avila. Camacho giving one last push, pressuring with punches. Dober sneaks in a body kick. Jabs force Camacho to reset. Dober keeping Camacho at the end of his punches. Dober shoots from the open and Camacho sprawls while punching the head. Camacho reverses on the way down and ends up on top again. Arm-triangle set up, and Dober postures up and gets to his feet. Anyone’s fight. Dober fires away and scores on a pair of combinations. Camacho’s punches miss, but a knee good. Midway point in the round. Camacho’s knee good, but he’s wearing Dober’s counters. Straight left wobbles Camacho, and yet he still comes forward. Dober goes to the body and misses on follow-ups. Camacho looks very winded and misses wide on a right hand. Big left for Dober. Camacho wading in, taking shots, looking for a knee. His right is landing periodically, but Dober is landing with more volume. Camacho punches into the clinch against the cage. Uppercut good for Dober. Body kick for Camacho. And again off a counter. Camacho eats a left hand as he pursues in close. Dober ducks for a takedown. Left takes steam off kick. Camacho lands a big right hand, and Dober is on the defensive. Slugfest. They trade big shots and run out of time. Close round, but MMAjunkie scores the frame 10-9 Dober for superior accuracy and volume, giving him the 29-28 score in a barnburner of a fight.

Erik Koch vs. Bobby Green

Round 1 – Koch pushes Green back with a jab and kick. Green persists and pops him. Kicks from Koch, and Green misses on the comeback. Green advancing still. Feints from both. Jab off low kick for Koch. Big left from Koch sends Green backward. They trade jabs. Clean one-two from Koch. Green repays with the same, and it seems to have hurt Koch. Green tries for a takedown and loses the leg. In the clinch, Green fires off a knee as the two pummel. Trip from Green fails, and they reset. Koch working the jab. Green sneaks in a left and kicks the knees. One-two leads to right hook for Koch, and Green ducks under the next one for a clinch. Koch turns him against the fence and the two knee each other. Trip for Koch, and he’s on top in half-guard. Arm triangle setup for Koch. Green defends and is mounted. Elbows force Green to give his back. Koch working to secure the neck. Green turns again and takes heavy shots. As he goes to his hands and knees, Koch again attacks the neck. Green out the back door and tries to get it back. Body kick fro Green. Less than 30 seconds to work. High kick lands, and he ducks under for a clinch against the cage. Green at Koch’s back, punching away, then turns and fires off a good combo to end the frame. MMAjunkie scores the opening frame 10-9 for Koch.

Round 2 – Koch leads with a body kick. Feints from Green, adn the two punche into the clinch. Koch peels off with a right hook. A body kick prompts Green to charge forward. Koch trying to pick off a body kick with his left straight. Green advances again. Decent body work. Green follows with a jab, then a body kick. Koch back with the same. Koch misses on a straight left and Green resets and moves forward. In with a body shot and the two pummel. Green off with a right elbow. Koch wide on a combination. Green backing Koch up and firing off body kicks. They collide and trade knees before breaking off. Green initiating offense to draw a counter and then trying to get out of the way for his own counters. Problem is, Koch’s accuracy is making him take a lot of power shots. They’re in the clinch and Koch breaks off with a right. Green right hand repaid with the same. Body kick from Green draws hard counters from Koch. Green now clowning Koch, who’s a little short on the counter. Sneaky left for Green, who’s hitting and getting out of the way before Koch can reply. Koch pops a jab and resets. Koch bleeding from the mouth. Body kick sets up one-two for Green. More comfort this round from Green as he dechipers Koch’s rhythm. Ends the frame thwapping Koch with his right hand in the clinch. MMAjunkie scores the second frame 10-9 for Green, and it’s even at 19-19.

Round 3 – One-two from Koch as Green kicks. Green back in and lands a left hand for Green. Koch charges forward to clinch and gets reversed against the fence. Green fires off a combo and Koch resets. Lunging jab good for Green. He ducks under Koch’s one-two and fires off a counter. His lunging attacks and constant pressure are beginning to pay dividends. Body kick and jab good, and Koch initiates clinch. Green gets out and keeps sniping. Lead shot to the body and right hands to body and head. Green walking down his foe confidently. Koch trying to catch Green coming in and land his big right hand. Green making it tough by ducking out of the way. Koch charges into the clinch, and the two muscle against the cage. Green goes for a leg and elevates for the takedown. Shots from the top in side mount for Green. Two minutes to go, and Koch takes elbows. Mount attempt draws reversal from Koch. Green works for a switch and Koch tries to take the back. Green scrambles and holds top position in side control. Punches from the top for Green, who seems content to close the fight doling out punches from the top. Koch hanging on. Koch tries to explode as Green works for a crucifix position. Punches from the top as Koch recovers guard. Green flurries with punches to close out the round, and at the bell, he helps up his opponent. MMAjunkie scores the frame 10-9 for Green, who should get the 29-28 decision.

Round 1 – Bektic closes as Pepey bounces and stays patient looking for counter. Bektic lands a right in the first exchange, and then resets. Feints from both fighters. Wheel kick way short for Pepey. Bektic jabs in and closes with a hook kick that misses. Pepey spins into a back kick. Pepey wants the uppercut as Bektic ducks. Bektic misses on a right hook off a pair of jabs asnd closes in. Uppercut clips Bektic as he charges into the clinch. Pepey escapes Bektic’s clutches, and Bektic lands a right hand off the next charge. Mouse under Bektic’s right eye. Leg kicks for the Bosnian. Pepey almost lands an overhand right off a feint. Bektic just short on an overhand right. Bektic follows up and lands a body shot off a lunging knee that has a delayed reaction. In an instant, Pepey goes from defending himself to crumpled on the mat. It’s over. Impressive finish from Bektic.

Round 1 – Chookagian presses in and draws a leg kick. Borella waiting on the counter as Chookagian jabs and kicks the body. Borella chases with a combination that’s short. They trade right handns, and Borello ends with a right that connects. Lots of feints from Chookagian. Borella misses on her right. Chookagian circles in with jabs and takes a leg kick. Another one lands as she tries to counter with a right hand. Borella with another low kick. Chookagian’s combination blocked. Right hand good for Borella, and Chookagian circles off. Kicks short for the American. Glancing right scores, but Borella is doing a good job at moving into range on the counter. Chookagian not using her length very effectively at the moment. Borella gets the better of a pair of rights, and she presses in for another right. When they trade rights, Borella is getting the better of it always. Less than one minute to go, and Chookagian is just a bit short. Borella pushes her back with a charge. Leg kick good. High kicks just short for Chookagian. Right hand off kick for Borella. Chookagian ducks under for a shot and ends the frame in the clinch. MMAjunkie scores the opening frame 10-9 for Borella.

Round 2 – Borella sneaks in a right hand off an exchange. She’s just got a better handle on range in close. Chookagian’s kicks are good low. Front kicks and jabs prompt Borella to close distance and fire back with punches. Chookagian’s lead leg red. Borella again wins with a right off Chookagian’s. Jab for Chookagian is constant, as are her kicks. But they’re not doing much to deter Borella. Nice footwork for Chookagian opens up right hand. Kick prompts takedown attempt from Borella, who ties up against the cage and lands a nice knee in the clinch before they break off. Swinging hook to body from Chookagian. Past the midway point of the frame. Body kick from Borella almost initiates clinch. She presses in and Chookagian circles off. Jab good for Borella. She keeps pressing in, looking for a right hand. Just misses as Chookagian ducks. Nice low kick counters Chookagian’s right hand. Borella good with jab. Uppercut makes Borella smile. Chookagian sneaks in a right hand as Borella closes. Right hand good for Chookagian at the end of a combo. Close round, but MMAjunkie gives it to Chookagian 10-9, evening it at 19-19.

Round 3 – Borella closes into a right hand. Chookagian attacks the legs and backs up as Borella closes and fires off a flurry. Charge misses and Chookagian almost repays with high kick. Right hand good for Borella. Borella charges again and tries that right hand, and Chookagian circles off and lands a question mark quick. Hook kick also glances. Borella initiates another exchange, and Chookagian finds the right hand. Hook prompts clinch attempt from Borella, and Chookagian knees her way free. Borella shoots in again and fires off another combination. Right hand is good as Chookagian fires hers. Chookagian now circling away from power hand. They trade right hands. Chookagian trying to duck and dodge away from the advancing Borella, who’s having a heck of a time getting a hold of her opponent. Borella ducks under a punch and initiates a clinch. She’s struggling against the cage, but Borella gets the takedown. Almost immediately, Chookagian initiates a triangle and has it, and Borella is forced to escape. Back on her feet, Chookagian ends a combo with an uppercut. Less than one minute left. Right hand glancing for Chookagian. Another two, and Borella gets an inside leg kick. Chookagian still mobile, firing back with counters. Borella goes for a last-ditch takedown and runs out of time as the frame comes to an end. MMAjunkie scores the final frame 10-9 for Chookagian, giving her the 29-28 decision. Close fight.

Round 1 – Lima opens with a pair of kicks. Low-stance Markos circling her lead hand. Lima combo blocked. Markos punches into the clinch and presses to the cage. She works the knees. Lima turns to try to prevent the takedown, then tries to reverse. Markos adjusts as they careen across the cage and keeps Lima smothered. Markos looking for a trip and working knees. Lima tries to go upstairs with a knee and then reverses position. Markos traps a leg and reverses against the cage. Knees to the legs. Midway through the first round. Markos traps a leg and tries to convert. Instead, Lima stays upright and punches, forcing her to reset. Markos with the body lock. Lima reverses and works knees. Markos reverses and does the same. Not much action here with one minute remaining. Lima trying to land an elbow. Short scramble, and Lima breaks it up with a takedown. In half-guard, she works to advance and gets swept into mount. Markos doesn’t have enough time and fires off a few punches and elbows to the body before the bell sounds. MMAjunkie scores the frame 10-9 for Markos.

Round 2 – Markos leads with a jab and draws a pair of kicks. Markos stutter-stepping as Lima circles and kicks. Again, Markos punches in and tries a takedown, only to get reversed and end up on bottom. Lima trying to free her left leg, which is trapped. Markos adjusts and traps both legs as Lima tries to advance. Lima barely gets a chance to work before the referee stands up the action. Markos counters a kick with punches that miss short. more kicks from Lima, and Markos ties it up and uses a whizzer to get a takedown, using her left hand to punch as they hit the mat. In full mount, she pounds away at Lima, who shrimps to half-guard. More ground-and-pound from Markos as she scoots them off the cage. Punches from up top. Lima trying to scoot away. Markos stays firm. Lima recovers guard as Markos postures up. Lima’s long legs nearly take Markos off her feet, and she angles for a submission. Triangle setup, but she doesn’t have the time, and the round ends in guard. MMAjunkie scores the second frame 10-9 for Markos, putting her up 20-18.

Round 3 – Lima opens with low kicks. Markos punches in and they clinch up. Lima turns her opponent and smothers her. Another tactical scrap against the fence. Markos uses the whizzer to initiate the takedown, and again, she’s in mount, pounding away with punches and elbows. Lima stuck. Markos postures up and resists a cage walk from Lima. Somehow, the referee is allowing them to continue without a standup. Markos simply smothering. Lima gets warned for toes in the cage as Markos holds side mount. Lima manages to walk the cage and get to her hands and knees before popping up. Markos holds the clinch and knees the legs. One minute for Lima to get back in the fight. She evades a leg trip and reverses against the cage. Fence grab keeps Markos upright off a trip. Markos reverses position and ends the frame kneeing the legs. Not the most exciting thing ever, but another 10-9 for Markos, bringing her the 30-27 decision.

Justine Kish vs. Ji Yeon Kim

Round 1 – Both fighters very upright, suggesting impending kickboxing fight. Kim with nice right straight to lead. Kish snipes at a distance. Kim again tries the right and misses. Kish working kicks at distance, looking for a way in. Kicks from Kish countered by punches. Right hand good for the lanky Kim. Kish powers into a combination and nails a left hook. Kim staying calm and keeps trying that right hand, fighting tall as Kish attacks the legs. Kim picks off Kish’s approach, landing as Kish closes. High kick slip from Kish, and Kim misses on the counter. Kish takes a right hand as she tries to land a high kick. Kish having more success landing to the legs than anything. Kish charges in and lands a right. Aggressive attack, but Kim is protecting against the big attacks. Round ends with Kish in pursuit, and MMAjunkie scores the frame 10-9 for Kim.

Round 2 – They trade shots early, but neither fighter gets the better of it. Straight right still good for Kim. Jab counters Kish’s leg kick. Nice body kick from Kish keeps distance from Kim’s counters. Kish wheels around to the back and pursues Kim after an exchange, landing a nice shot in the process. Kish in Kim’s face, initiating clinch and landing knee. Gameplan is clear for the American: get inside and do damage. Kim content to fire down at her opponent and use counters to defuse the aggression. Kish leg attacks scoring consistently. She seems to have a better handle on her range, too. A combination lands before Kim can reply. Feints and head movement keeping Kim off balance. Nice right from Kish. They punch into the clinch and quickly break off. Kish presses Kim backward and lands a body kick. Kim with a straight right off a kick. Another nice left hook from Kish. Kish with another nice combination off a leg kick. Her head is out of the lane as Kim tries to counter. Momentum is swinging her way. Kim short on a jab and ends the frame pulling back on a one-two. MMAjunkie scores the second frame 10-9 for Kish, and we’re even at 19-19.

Round 3 – Kim comes out looking to aggressively counter Kish, who’s forced to reset as Kim cuts off her kicks by closing the distance. Left hook for Kish good after an excahnge. Kish tripped off a kick, and Kim can’t capitalize. In the next exchange, Kim complains of an eye poke, and the action briefly pauses. Kick met with punches from Kish. Kim more aggressive this round. Punching into exchanges. Kish with a right hook. Kim throwing big winging hooks. A lot of them ar missing. But a left hand lands, and Kim gets the better of a firefight in the pocket. Kish’s nose bleeding. Right overhand from Kim, and she presses in and lands a couple of rights. Kish on her heels. Still attacking the legs. Nice straight right from Kim, who meets a left hook in return. Jab for Kim. Nice leg kicks for Kish. Big right straight for Kim, and Kish spins with an elbow. Kim trying to cut off Kish before she can get going with any combinations. Not much time to work. Kim counters a high kick with a straight right. Moving forward, and Kish continues to counter with kicks. Spinning backfists misses and Kish locks up a plumb in the final seconds. She fires off a knee and unleashes a final flurry before running out of time. Close round, but MMAjunkie scores it 10-9 for Kim for a 29-28, but wouldn’t be surprising if we saw it the same score for Kish.

Vinc Pichel vs. Joaquim Silva

Round 1 – Pichel closes immediately and draws a leg kick. Silva bouncing, looking for a way in. Silva trips and takes a leg kick. Pichel inches in and they trade punches, with Pichel ending to the body. Switching stances from Pichel. Silva has yet to let go. Pichel charges with a leg kick. Fits and starts, but not much doing as of yet. Pichel jabs in. Silva measuring for right hand. Pichel complains of eyepoke. Switch kicks traded, nothing doing. Both fighters have yet to really engage. Pichel corners Silva and doesn’t like what he sees. Silva digs a body kick off a charge. Lots of movement, but not a lot of connections. Less than half of the round to go, and this one is a tough one to score. Silva closes and pops an overhand right. He closes again and traps Pichel against fence, but Pichel circles off. Inside leg kick good for Pichel, as it has for much of the round. Nice body kick from Silva. Pichel’s counterattack short. Silva has been doing a good job of staying out of range. He tries to catch Pichel with a high kick and slips. Pichel closes and elevates for a takedown, and Silva manages to keep his balance. Pichel ties him up against the cage and looks for a takedown. He runs out of time, and MMAjunkie scores the opening frame 10-9 for Silva.

Round 2 – Pichel closes in again, looking for some opening points. Silva keeps distance with kicks. Pichel misses on a power punch and follows Silva across the cage. Leg kick good. Pichel pops a right hand and gets caught in a whizzer against the cage. Guillotine choke ties up Pichel, and Silva adjusts with elbow before peeling off. Pichel again charges. More urgency. Silva with a one-two inside. Pichel lands a body kick. He’s getting frustrated by Silva’s counters. Silva just out of reach when he commits. Silva dodges a Pichel combo and repays with an overhand right. Pichel backs off and then comes back in with a body shot. Silva with spinning kick, and Pichel counters with a flurry of punches that outweigh the attack. It’s a very technical bout thus far. Pichel charges with a low kick and misses with a combo follow-up. Silva punches in, but jabs deflate him, and Pichel follows with a pair of punches and a front kick that score and close the frame. MMAjunkie scores the frame 10-9 for Pichel, evening it up 19-19.

Round 3 – Touch of gloves in an overall lackluster fight. They trade leg kicks and Silva inches forward, trying to find Pichel, who plays the jab counter and just misses on a head kick. Silva is undeterred and punches in again, and Pichel sneaks in a right hand. Silva chasing down Pichel and lands a leg kick. Another kick caught by Pichel, and he tries to convert to a takedown. Both fighter have realized they need to actually fight to take home the decision. Pichel looking to catch Silva on the counter. Silva with a one-two. He’s in Pichel’s face and takes a body shot for his effort. Still on the chase, Silva gets out of the way of Pichel’s counters. Better luck next time for Pichel in the next exchange. Silva pushing forward. Pichel attacks the legs. One-two good for Silva. So far, Pichel hasn’t been able to get Silva to back off. He’s content to look for the counter. Body kick for Silva, and Pichel repays. Silva lets up a little bit and measures his offense. Lands a nice right hand. Pichel with a straight shot to the body, and Silva counterws with right hands over the top. Pichel bleeding. Shot from the open, and Silva gets free. They hit the cage, and Pichel punches away and lands a couple of shots. he slips, and Silva almost gets a takedown. Silva seems to have the better gas tank, though, and ends the frame with a right hand. The expiration seems to have come at just the right time for Pichel, who appeared to be fading fast. MMAjunkie scores the final frame 10-9 for Silva, who should take the 29-28 decision.

Niko Price vs. George Sullivan

Round 1 – Sullivan jabs in as Price circles out. Price with a right that misses. Patient, he waits for another opportunity as Sullivan closes and jabs. Price ducks a charge from Sullivan. Left hook almost clips Sullivan, but he’s back in. Right hook almost good from Price, who’s just waiting for that perfect counter. Sullivan doing the busy work so far. Body kick nails Sullivan. Retorts not as effective. Lead hook to body from Price, and Sullivan pops Price with a right hand that knocks his mouthpiece and prompts Price to shoot. Sullivan blocks it against the cage, and they wrestle for position. Sullivan circling off and Price takes him down. In side control. Sullivan ties the arm for a kimura. Price stuffs Sullivan agaist the cage, but can’t keep him down. At Sullivan’s back, he fires off a few knees. Sullivan turns and fights another takedown. Seatbelt and knee to the body from Sullivan. Price has the underhooks. Sullivan muscles for underhooks and gets the takedown. Price reverses on the way down and lands on top in Sullivan’s guard. Price elevates and slams his opponent before stuffing him against the cage. Sweep from Sullivan, and Price cranks on a kimura to prevent the takedown. Price does it again and spins out Sullivan before ending the round with a right hand. MMAjunkie scores the frame 10-9 for Sullivan.

Round 2 – They trade jabs at center cage. Price looks a little winded. Sullivan presses in again and jabs. Price smiles, but he’s getting outworked early. Step in combo from Sullivan, who lands a right. Price feints a takedown. His counter his off range. Big right hand lands in the next exchange, though, and Sullivan is hurt. Immediate takedown attempt, and Price now on his back in guard. Kimura from the bottom, and Sullivan shuts it down. Price goes for an arm and Sullivan is able to pull out. Punches from the top. Price again goes for an arm and gets repaid with a right hand. Sullivan working ground and pound. Halfway through the round. Sullivan scoring points from overhead. Price can’t buck his foe. Cut on his forehead. Big shots from Sullivan, who postures up and tries to clear the legs. Price takes the opportunity and scrambles up. Quick takedown in transition, and Price is now on top. Kimura retort from Sullivan, and Price wheels to the back. Hooks in, and Price works the choke. Sullivan tries to get out the back door and is trapped. Sullivan tries to power up and leaves his neck exposed. Price seizes the bar-arm and locks in hooks as he pulls Sullivan back to the mat. Sullivan has nowhere to go and taps.

Austin Arnett vs. Cory Sandhagen

Round 1 – Sandhagen cloes and fires off a leg kick, drawing a counter hook from Arnett. Sandhagen aggressive early, punishing the lead leg and follows with a right hand. Arnett ties him up and pushes to the cage, initially ducking for legs before standing upright and working the legs. Sandhagen shucks him off, and Arnett fires off a combo. Sandhagen aggressive, but Arnett pops him with a few punches. Sandhagen rips to the body and fires off a good combo. Nice kick to the body. Sandhagen now beating up Arnett in close with sharp combos. He backs off and resets. Arnett charges forward and doesn’t get quite the response. He’s got a nice jab, but he’s not pushing back Sandhagen much. Sandhagen breaks up the rhythm and goes for a takedown, easily getting it. He pounds on Arnett from overhead. Arnett hanging in there so far, trying to defend and tie Sandhagen up in his legs. Sandhagen working hammerfists while postured up. He stands and punches down again. High kick misses as Arnett gets up. Arentt wants revenge and chases Sandhagen back. Not much doing. Sandhagen’s left good, and a nice kick, too. Sandhagen getting slick now, his hands lowered. Arnett gives him reason to cover up, popping him with a three-punch combo. Sandhagen shrugs it off. Less than one minute to go. Sandhagen rips to the body again and presses the action to the fence. Slight stall. Arnett with short shots. Sandhagen complains about a lack of action. Bell sounds. MMAjunkie scores the opening frame 10-9 for Sandhagen.

Round 2 – Sandhagen inches in and pops the leg. Posturing from both. Unpredictability of Sandhagen giving Arnett problems. More diversity of attacks. Lead leg hook good, as is shot to body and leg kicks. Arnett a step behind in exchanges. Sandhagen raises his hands, prompting Arnett to close and clinch. Sandhagen controls him and pops and elbow before peeling off. Arnett tries to press in again and gets a similar result. Sandhagen slowly picking apart his opponent. Arnett ties up at the fence and elevates for a takedown. At Sandhagen’s back, he puts in a hook, and Sandhagen immediately tries to go out the back door. Arnett spills to the canvas, and Sandhagen gets on top in half-guard. Elbow opens up cut on Arnett. Butterfly guard, and Sandhagen passes. As he does, Arnett scrambles and rights himself. Spinning elbow from Sandhagen. Audience impressed. Arnett presses in again and fires off his right hand. Sandhagen all over it. Body shot hurts Arnett. He’s a sitting duck against the cage as Sandhagen fires away. Body shot drops Arnett, and he’s turtled as Sandhagen pounds away. Referee warns Arnett, and then steps in to stop the bout. Impressive debut from Sandhagen.
