After one of the greatest performances of his career, UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway is making moves in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA pound-for-pound rankings.
Holloway moves up two spots to No. 4 – leapfrogging Jon Jones and Tyron Woodley – after dismantling Brian Ortega in the UFC 231 headliner to defend his title this past weekend. The victory pushed Holloway’s streak to 13, which is tied for second on the all-time list behind only Anderson Silva’s record of 16.
Holloway hasn’t suffered a defeat since August 2013, when he dropped a decision to Conor McGregor.
Jones could have something to say in the near future about Holloway’s standing in the pound-for-pound rankings. Jones is set to return from suspension on Dec. 29 in the headliner of UFC 232, where he’ll fight Alexander Gustafsson in a highly anticipated rematch for the light heavyweight title.
In the aftermath of UFC 231, check out our complete rankings above.
