USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA rankings, Sept. 25: Welcome to the party, A.J. McKee

This past Friday, the man who arguably is Bellator’s biggest rising star declared himself the best in the world.

If that’s truly going to be the case at some point, A.J. McKee now has taken a big step toward it by his introduction into the featherweight rankings.

McKee (12-0 MMA, 12-0 BMMA) headlined Bellator 205 in Boise, Idaho, with a first-round knockout of John Teixeira (21-4-2 MMA, 4-3 BMMA). The win kept him perfect in his pro career with a dozen wins – all under the Bellator banner. And now he has a spot in the USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA featherweight rankings.

Coming up this week, more Bellator action could lead to movement in other divisions. In the Bellator 206 main event Saturday, middleweight champ Gegard Mousasi (44-6-2 MMA, 2-0 BMMA) takes on welterweight titleholder Rory MacDonald (20-4 MMA, 2-0 BMMA) with the 185-pound belt on the line. Each is No. 3 in his respective division, but that could change next week based on the outcome.

Check out our new featherweight list, as well as the rest of the divisions – including those crucial welterweight and middleweight divisions that might be affected by Mousasi-MacDonald.
