Manager: Brendan Allen suffers multiple nasal, orbital fractures in UFC on ESPN 12 win

Brendan Allen came out of UFC on ESPN 12 with his hand raised, but it wasn’t without some serious damage in the process.

Allen (15-3 MMA, 3-0 UFC) handed short-notice octagon newcomer Kyle Daukaus (9-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) his first career loss Saturday when he gutted out a unanimous decision win in the middleweight contest, which took place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

After the fight, Allen was not available to speak to the media. He was taken to a local hospital for examination, which confirmed that he sustained three fractures “in his nose and orbital floor,” according to his manager, Brian Butler of SuckerPunch Entertainment.

Butler posted a photo of Allen taken sometime after his Sunday hospital release, and confirmed the fighter will take some much-needed time off (via Twitter):

UPDATE: @BrendanAllenMMA suffered 3 fractures in his nose and orbital floor in last nights fight. Likely out the remainder of the year but considering return at 205lbs.

The injuries mark a rare trying moment for Allen early in his UFC career. The 24-year-old made his octagon debut in October and has put together three consecutive wins.

At 6-foot-2, Allen is no small middleweight, though, and Butler hinted a change in division could come upon his return in 2021.
