For as long as can be remembered, Frankie Edgar has been ranked at either lightweight or featherweight. Now you can add bantamweight.
Edgar made his 135-pound debut this past weekend at UFC on ESPN 15, where he defeated Pedro Munhoz by split decision in the night’s main event. And that means a spot in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMA Junkie bantamweight rankings at No. 5, ahead of Munhoz (6) and former champion Cody Garbrandt (7).
Edgar’s jump isn’t the only major move to come out of this past weekend’s action. At Bellator 244, Vadim Nemkov steamrolled through Ryan Bader to become the first Russian light heavyweight champion in a major MMA organization.
Nemkov entered the fight unranked, so where does he land after such an impressive performance? At No. 4, ahead of Bader (5) but behind Jon Jones (1), Dominick Reyes (2) and Jan Blachowicz (3).
Check out all the movement in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMA Junkie in the drop-down menus above.
