Tyson Fury and Conor McGregor have long voiced their respect for one another.
Though the two European combat sports icons never have spoken (at least not as of early 2020), mutual admiration was still presented through an interview Monday when Fury revealed he’s picking McGregor (22-5 MMA, 10-3 UFC) to defeat Dustin Poirier in their UFC 264 trilogy fight.
“My prediction for the McGregor-Poirier fight is that I think McGregor will win this time,” Fury told UFC’s social team. “I think he’s trained hard, and he’s got it all to prove. It will be a great event and one to watch. Tune in.”

McGregor and Poirier (27-6 MMA, 19-5 UFC) are tied at one win apiece in their series. At UFC 178 in 2014, McGregor finished Poirier with punches in Round 1. Nearly seven years later, at UFC 257 this past January, Poirier flipped the script and knocked out McGregor midway through Round 2.
Fourteen days after UFC 264, Fury will engage in a trilogy fight of his own when he takes on Deontay Wilder for the third time, July 24 – also at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
