Macy Chiasson says stress fractures in foot caused UFC on ESPN 27 withdrawal

"

Macy Chiasson has issued a statement on her late withdrawal from the UFC on ESPN 27 co-main event with Aspen Ladd.

Chiasson (7-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC) was forced to pull out of the women’s bantamweight bout with Ladd (9-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC) late Thursday night. There was no initial explanation cited other than injury, but now Chiasson has shed light on the sequence of events.

According to “The Ultimate Fighter 28” winner, she aggravated a stress fracture in one of her feet during her final training session and it badly compromised her movement. Chiasson had originally intended to power through the training camp injury, but it was not meant to be.

Check out her full statement below (via Instagram):

Hey guys I went into this fight with a stress fracture in my foot from camp. Should have been in a boot instead but was feeling good with it wrapped up. I then re-injured it last night working out before my cut. I can hardly walk at all much less fight. I just want to say I am so sorry and I was never more ready in my life for this fight. Unfortunately this happens in sports. I really want everyone to see how great I’m fighting. I’m really hoping it will get rebooked for a later date. We have worked too hard for this. I just want to thank the @ufc and @mickmaynard for everything you do for us and for this opportunity.

Chiasson did not reveal what type of rehabilitation she’ll require to get back in the octagon, or what her timeline looks like.

She made it clear she still wants to fight Ladd next, but the interest may not be mutual. Ladd has already gone on to call for a fight with Miesha Tate after missing out on her chance to compete Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
