Saidyokub Kakhramonov recounts nasty guillotine choke finish: ‘He wasn’t going nowhere’

"

LAS VEGAS – Saidyokub Kakhramonov sure had a memorable start to his UFC career.

The bantamweight fighter picked up a technical submission win at Saturday’s UFC on ESPN 29, putting Trevin Jones unconscious in the third round of their main card clash.

It was a strong finish by Kakhramonov (9-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC) and caught the eye of many in the MMA community.

“I had it locked in really good, but he knew how to defend it,” Kakhramonov told MMA Junkie as he recalled his bout at the UFC on ESPN 29 post-fight press conference. “I have a really good guillotine. I love guillotines. When I have that, I snatch your neck off.

“That last round, once I locked that in, I knew he wasn’t going nowhere. I gave everything I had, but I knew he wasn’t going nowhere.”

Kakhramonov took the fight on short notice, replacing Mana Martinez who pulled out of the bout due to undisclosed reasons. The 25-year-old is excited to have debuted for the UFC, something he was dreaming of for a long time.

“I’m a fanboy,” Kakhramonov said. “I’ve been a fan of the UFC all my life. Even the high school days, I would be cutting weight for a tournament and I used to run and imagine I’m walking out to the cage in the UFC. I always wanted to be here no matter what. I always wanted to be here.”
