LAS VEGAS – Stephanie Egger got the job done, but perhaps not as she expected.
The UFC women’s bantamweight was a bit surprised on how fast her bout against Shanna Young was stopped at Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 193. Egger (6-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) was winning the fight, landing ground-and-pound on Young. Many thought Young was intelligently defending herself, but the referee called off the fight awarding the TKO win to Egger.
Egger spoke to reporters at the post-fight press conference about the nature of the bizarre stoppage, the feeling of securing her first UFC win, what’s next for her career, and much more.
UFC Fight Night 193 took place Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The card streamed on ESPN+.
