It might be a long shot but if things break his way, Juan Adams could be a millionaire before the end of the year.
Adams, a former UFC fighter, announced on Wednesday that he’s signed with the PFL as a heavyweight alternate. He’ll need someone to withdraw in order to fight and have a chance at earning points for a playoff spot where he could compete for the $1 million grand prize.
“Just signed to contract for (PFL),” Adams wrote on Facebook. “I will be an alternate meaning that if anyone can’t fight for whatever reason, I get my shot. I weigh in June 23 either way in Atlanta.”
2022 PFL 5 will play host to the second heavyweight fights of the season June 24 at Overtime Elite Arena in Atlanta.
Adams, 30, earned a spot on the UFC roster through Dana White’s Contender Series in July 2018. He went 1-3 in four promotional appearances, winning his debut by third-round TKO against Chris de la Rocha before dropping three straight to Arjan Bhullar, Greg Hardy and Justin Tafa.
Since being released by the UFC in February 2020, Adams (9-4) has gone 4-1 under the Fury FC banner. He finished Aaron Rosa by first-round TKO in his most recent fight this past February at Fury FC 56.
