Instead of fighting this Saturday at the UFC Apex, Tim Elliott will be undergoing surgery to repair injuries.
As previously reported, Elliott (17-13-1 MMA, 7-10 UFC) withdrew from his scheduled bout on June 25 at UFC on ESPN 38 against Amir Albazi. At the time, the reasons for his withdrawal were not disclosed, but Elliott revealed why he will not compete on social media Monday evening.
“Tore my ACL & meniscus, I’ll be having surgery for my fight day!” Elliott wrote on Twitter.

The torn ACL is the more severe of the two injuries, and typically carries a recovery time of six to nine months. However, it’s far too soon to speculate when Elliott could be ready to return to action.
Elliott’s bout against Albazi (14-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) would have been his second of 2022, following his unanimous decision victory over Tagir Ulanbekov at UFC 272 in March.
Albazi has since been booked against a different opponent and will face Francisco Figueiredo on Aug. 20 at UFC 278 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
