UFC Fight Night 218’s Devin Clark finds Da-un Jung ‘a good candidate’ to stop by ground-and-pound

"

LAS VEGAS – Devin Clark not only expects to get back in the win column this Saturday, but he plans on doing so convincingly.

The UFC light heavyweight sees a stoppage finish in his co-main event bout against Da-un Jung at Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 218, which takes place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas and streams on ESPN+.

Clark (13-7 MMA, 7-7 UFC) feels he’s got the tools to out-wrestle Jung (15-3-1 MMA, 4-1-1 UFC) and stop him on the mat.

“He’s an all-around durable guy,” Clark told reporters at Wednesday’s media day. “He’s good at striking and stuff like that. I picture him coming at me pretty hard, and I’m going to come at him pretty hard and drag him around the ring.

“I’m looking for a finish. I haven’t had a ground-and-pound finish in a while, and he’s a good guy for that. He’s a good candidate.”

Clark is coming off a third-round TKO loss to Azamat Murzakanov back in August at UFC on ESPN 41. He’s now 1-3 in his past four outings. “Brown Bear” is determined to get back to his winning ways and that starts with a mentality change entering the bout.

“When you get in that cage, you better damn fight,” Clark said regarding the lessons from his last bout. “I didn’t quite do that, that night. I had a few things going into that fight.

“Right before, I hurt my pinky toe and I broke my hand in the fight. I got punched in the neck. That all comes down to me being a sissy when it comes down to it. I wasn’t able to mentally overcome that, and I should’ve been able to. I’ve done it before, but now I’m back on that mindset. No excuses, and I’m going to finish this fight.”
