Calm down. It’s just an honorable mention. But still, Fedor Emelianenko (37-5 MMA, 1-1 BMMA) is once again a factor in the USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA heavyweight rankings.
Emelianenko earned a 48-second knockout victory over UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir in the main event of this past weekend’s Bellator 198 event. The contest was a quarterfinal matchup in Bellator’s heavyweight grand prix, and Emelianenko now moves on to face Chael Sonnen later this year with a finals berth on the line.
The legendary Emelianenko, 41, now stands at 5-1 in his past six appearances and earns his way back on the latest edition our our heavyweight list.
