UFC 227’s impact could be felt all over this week’s USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA rankings.
At the top of this past Saturday’s card from Staples Center in Los Angeles, UFC bantamweight champion T.J. Dillashaw slammed the door shut on his rivalry with ex-champ Cody Garbrandt by knocking him out for the second consecutive time. Also, Henry Cejudo shocked the world by taking a split decision from Demetrious Johnson to claim the UFC flyweight title and ending Johnson’s streak of consecutive defenses at 11.
The pound-for-pound, bantamweight and flyweight rankings were greatly affected by Dillashaw’s and Cejudo’s victories.
Also making a move is Renato Moicano, who jumped up big time in the featherweight rankings after submitting previous No. 5 Cub Swanson.
