Two titles are on the line Saturday when the UFC returns to Texas.
That means we could see some interesting movement, not just in the welterweight and women’s flyweight divisions, but in the pound-for-pound rankings, as well.
UFC 228 takes place Saturday at American Airlines Center in Dallas. In the headliner, 170-pound champion Tyron Woodley (18-3-1 MMA, 8-2-1 UFC) takes on challenger Darren Till (17-0-1 MMA, 5-0-1 UFC). Woodley currently is No. 1 in the welterweight rankings and No. 5 pound-for-pound. Till is No. 4 at welterweight.
And in the co-feature, inaugural women’s flyweight champion Nicco Montano (4-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC) meets former bantamweight title challenger Valentina Shevchenko (15-3 MMA, 4-2 UFC) – who is a massive 12-1 favorite. Montano is No. 1 in the women’s 125-pound division and No. 12 pound-for-pound; Shevchenko is No. 2 in the weight class and No. 4 pound-for-pound.
Will we see new champions, and what will that mean for the rankings? Check out our full lists at welterweight and women’s flyweight, as well as the rest of the rankings above.
