LAS VEGAS – UFC president Dana White said he’s “numb” to the legal problems of Jon Jones after the light heavyweight champ’s most recent brush with the law.

“It doesn’t faze me any more,” White told reporters, including MMA Junkie, during a media scrum Wednesday. “Every time we do a fight with Jon, I’m wondering if it’s going to be his last.

“It has nothing to do with money. It’s what’s going to happen outside the octagon.”

Jones, 32, was charged in May with battery stemming from an alleged altercation with a female cocktail server at a gentlemen’s club in his hometown of Albuquerque, N.M. A criminal summons alleges the UFC champ put the server in a chokehold and slapped her in the genitals before leaving the club.

A warrant was issued for Jones when he failed to appear on a bond arraignment. The fighter was reportedly unaware of the charge and posted bond after hearing of it from the media. He’s due back in court in August.

In New Mexico, battery is a petty misdemeanor that carries a maximum sentence of six months in prison and fines. Jones’ spokesperson has called the allegations of the cocktail server a “false accusation” and “malicious lies.” Jones has brushed off the charge on social media.

On the allegations, White hedged on making conclusions about Jones, saying “there’s two sides to the story, and the truth is somewhere in the middle, I’m sure.”

The UFC executive, who once declared Jones would never again headline an event after an anti-doping charge scratched him from UFC 200, clarified that Jones is “the best” in the octagon and has no trouble keeping himself together in competition. It’s when he goes about his life that the promoter starts to worry.

“If you look at the lifestyle he’s lived the last seven, eight years of his life, and what he comes in the octagon and does,” White said. “He just fought Thiago (Santos), who’s a (expletive) animal, and wants everything Jones has, stood in there – I don’t know if I’ve ever heard of more damage to one knee in my life. (Santos) fought and was still kicking with the leg, and Jon Jones beat him. It’s unbelievable how good Jon Jones really is. It’s the minute he steps out of the octagon, you never know what’s going to happen.

“He’s in trouble right now.”

Despite the charge, Jones’ reps expect his career to move on as planned. The champ recently targeted a return in November after defending his title earlier this month against Santos.

Virtually unbeaten in the cage, Jones repeatedly has run afoul of regulators and the law. He was stripped of the title for a second time in 2017 after testing positive for trace metabolites of a banned steroid, his second violation under the UFC’s anti-doping program. He was given a 15-month suspension after providing substantial assistance to the program’s administrator, U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA).

Jones’ first USADA violation stemmed from a positive drug test prior to a title unifier against Daniel Cormier at UFC 200. He received a one-year suspension despite repeated denials of wrongdoing. In both his anti-doping cases, he disputed his suspensions and was found to be culpable by an independent arbitrator, though his second violation was reduced for his cooperation with USADA.

Jones was stripped of the belt for the first time for his role in a hit-and-run accident in New Mexico in 2015 that left a pregnant woman with a broken arm. He was also convicted of driving while intoxicated after striking a utility pole.
