Heavyweights set for Milan as “Baby Fedor” and Domingos Barros land Bellator 230 showcase

Bellator has called in the big men to bolster the card for Bellator 230 in Milan.

MMA Junkie has learned the Oct. 12 fight card in Italy will now feature a heavyweight clash between Russia’s “Baby Fedor” Kirill Sidelnikov and Portugal’s Domingos Barros.

Undefeated Barros (6-0 MMA, 1-0 BMMA) arrived in Bellator with a bang last December, as he dished out a first-round ground-and-pound TKO finish of former Glory ace Hesdy Gerges in the co-main event of Bellator 211 in Genoa.

Now the hard-hitting heavyweight is set to make his return to Italy to face Sidelnikov (11-6 MMA, 0-1 BMMA), who is looking to claim his maiden victory under the Bellator banner.

Hailing from the same home town as “The Last Emperor” Fedor Emelianenko, Stary Oskol’s Sidelnikov lost his Bellator debut via first-round TKO to Israeli prospect Adam Keresh at Bellator 209 in Tel Aviv last November.

The former Fight Nights Global heavyweight title challenger’s last victory came back in December 2016, but the 30-year-old has fought just twice since that win and will be looking to hand Barros the first defeat of his MMA career and embark on a fresh run of success inside the Bellator cage.

The main card of Bellator 230 in Milan features a light heavyweight clash between former 185-pound champion Rafael Carvalho (16-3 MMA, 7-2 BMMA) and Russia’s Vadim Nemkov (10-2 MMA, 3-0 BMMA), who is looking to add his third former Bellator champion to his list of victims, having already defeated ex-light heavyweight belt-holders Phil Davis and Liam McGeary in his last two outings.

The accompanying “Bellator Europe 5: Milan” fight card is headlined by heavy-handed Dutch veteran Melvin Manhoef (31-14 MMA, 3-3 BMMA), who takes on Britain’s former EFC and BAMMA middleweight champion Yannick Bahati (9-4 MMA, 1-0 BMMA), with support provided by a middleweight clash between debuting American Canaan Grigsby (8-7) and Italian stalwart Alessio Sakara (19-13 MMA, 3-2 BMMA).

In addition, the event at the Allianz Cloud arena will feature a Bellator Kickboxing card with Canada’s Gabriel Varga and Italy’s Cristian Faustino set to face off for the promotion’s featherweight kickboxing title.

Bellator 230 will air on Paramount and stream on DAZN via tape delay in the U.S., with Bellator Europe 5 streaming live on MMA Junkie at 5 p.m. ET. The Bellator Kickboxing card will get the action started via the Bellator app from 11 a.m. ET.
