BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – In the lone women’s fight of Bellator 225, Alejandra Lara put her multi-faceted abilities on full display and snapped a losing skid in the process.
The 25-year-old Lara (8-3 MMA, 2-2 BMMA) defeated Taylor Turner (4-6 MMA, 1-1 BMMA) by first-round TKO in her bantamweight debut at Webster Bank Arena.
In the opening minute, Lara took down her opposing foe Turner and eventually landed in the back sidemount. The two fighters eventually rose to their feet, but Lara dragged the bout to the ground once again.
From there, Lara brutalized Turner with ground and pound from the mount. Turner rolled to her back, but Lara continued the bombardment of fists. Completely stretched out, Turner was unable to defend herself. Referee Dan Miragliotta waived off the contest at 3:44 of Round 1.
With the victory, Lara snapped a two-fight losing streak. After kicking off her career 6-1, the Colombian fighter lost back-to-back flyweight outings to current champ Ilima-Lei Macfarlane and Brazil’s Juliana Velasquez.
