Superstar or ‘stupid star?’ Paige VanZant called out by Justine Kish

Superstar or ‘stupid star?’

Justine Kish wants a piece of fellow UFC flyweight Paige VanZant (8-4 MMA, 5-3 UFC).

Monday, Kish (6-2 MMA, 2-2 UFC), who has been out since January 2018 due to injury, took to Twitter and asked the UFC to match her up with “12 Gauge.”

“I can’t take it anymore,” Kish wrote. “@paigevanzant keeps acting like a super star but her actions lately prove that she’s just stupid star. @ufc match me up with this (star, please). There’s a better blonde in town that actually wants to (fight).”

If a bout between the two 125-pounders materializes, it will stand to be VanZant’s last fight on her current UFC contract.

The 25-year-old VanZant has been outspoken in recent weeks when talking about her current contract situation. Last week, VanZant commented how she makes more money through side ventures like Instagram than fighting.

UFC president Dana White, when asked about VanZant’s recent comments during a media scrum, laughed and responded, “Good for her. That’s awesome. If a fighter can make more money doing other things, good for her.”

VanZant has lost three out her five most recent bouts. VanZant’s last outing came in January, when she submitted Rachael Ostovich by second-round armbar.

Conversely, Kish is coming off of back-to-back losses to Ji Yeon Kim and Felice Herrig. The losing streak comes on the heels of six-straight pro victories including two inside the UFC cage.
