It’s been a while since Joe Lauzon has stepped into the octagon.
After a 16-month layoff, the Massachusetts native Lauzon (27-15 MMA, 14-12 UFC) will get a home game against Jonathan Pearce (9-3 MMA, 0-0 UFC) at UFC on ESPN 6, promotion officials announced Thursday.
UFC on ESPN 6 will take place Oct. 18 at TD Garden in Boston. The entire card airs on ESPN 2.
Lauzon, 35, last competed at UFC 223 in April 2018. The veteran lightweight lost to Chris Gruetzmacher by TKO when he retired on the stool in between the second and third rounds. Prior to that defeat in Brooklyn, Lauzon lost his previous two bouts. After he dropped a decision to Stevie Ray in April 2017, Lauzon was starched by Clay Guida at UFC Fight Night 120 in November 2017.
On the opposite end of the UFC experience spectrum, Tennessee’s Pearce will make his UFC debut in Boston.
A veteran of Dana White’s Contender Series, Pearce was signed after an impressive showing in July. The 27-year-old lightweight finished Jacob Rosales with a punch in Round 3.
With the addition, UFC on ESPN 6 now includes:
