“Shogun” is finally back.

The former UFC light heavyweight champion Mauricio Rua (26-11 MMA, 10-9 UFC) takes on Sam Alvey (33-13 MMA, 10-8 UFC) at UFC on ESPN+ 22.

A person with knowledge of the situation confirmed the booking to MMA Junkie, after a report from ESPN. The person asked to remain anonymous because the promotion hasn’t made an official announcement.

UFC on ESPN+ 22 takes place Nov. 16 at Ibirapuera Gymnasium in Sao Paulo. The card streams on ESPN+.

In his most recent outing in December 2018, Rua proved the oddsmakers wrong when he rallied to defeat Australia’s Tyson Pedro by third-round TKO stoppage.

Prior to the victory over Pedro, Rua had a three-fight win streak snapped in July 2018 when he was brutally knocked out by Anthony Smith in 89 seconds.

Wisconsin’s Alvey could very well have his back up against the wall when he enters enemy territory against Rua. The veteran has lost three straight fights and has been finished twice via strikes. In his 44 pro fights prior to the skid, Alvey had never lost a bout due to strikes.

At UFC on ESPN 4 in July, Alvey dropped a three-round unanimous to Klidson Abreu.

With the addition, the UFC on ESPN+ 22 lineup now includes:
