Brendan Allen needs a new opponent for his UFC debut.
Eric Spicely (12-5 MMA, 2-5 UFC) has been forced to withdraw from the middleweight bout scheduled for next month. The promotion is actively seeking for an opponent to fill in to fight Allen (12-3 MMA, 0-0 UFC).
Two people with knowledge of the situation informed MMA Junkie of the news. They wished to remain anonymous because the UFC has yet to make an official announcement.
UFC on ESPN 6 takes place Friday, Oct. 18 at TD Garden in Boston, Mass. The card airs on ESPN 2.
A former LFA champion, Allen was signed off of an impressive victory on “Dana White’s Contender Series” this past summer. In front of the UFC brass at DWCS 20, Allen made short work of Aaron Jeffrey. At the 3:23 mark of the first round, Allen submitted the Canadian by rear-naked choke.
After his release from the promotion in mid-2018, Spicely returned to the UFC in June. On short notice, Spicely took on AKA’s Deron Winn at UFC on ESPN+ 12. The contest was a spirited, back-and-forth affair which earned both competitors “Fight of the Night” bonuses.
The current UFC on ESPN 6 lineup is as follows:
The UFC handed out four bonuses after Saturday’s card, rewarding four main card stoppages. After UFC on ESPN 55, four fighters took home an extra $50,000 for their performances at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Check out the winners below.
