Kevin Holland will be fighting sooner than expected.
As a result of Eric Spicely’s withdrawal from UFC on ESPN 6, Holland (15-4 MMA, 3-1 UFC) will step in to take on promotional newcomer Brendan Allen (12-3 MMA, 0-0 UFC).
Known to UFC president Dana White as “Big Mouth,” Holland was originally scheduled to face Antonio Arroyo (9-2 MMA, 0-0 UFC) at UFC on ESPN+ 22 on Nov. 16. The promotion is currently searching for a new opponent for Arroyo.
Two people with knowledge of the situation confirmed the new booking with MMA Junkie. The people requested anonymity because the UFC has yet to make an official announcement.
UFC on ESPN 6 takes place Friday, Oct. 18 at TD Garden in Boston, Mass. The entire card airs on ESPN 2.
Currently riding a three-fight winning streak, Holland will compete in his fourth bout in less than one year. After he lost a short-notice debut at UFC 227 in August 2018, Holland returned to submit John Phillips in his November return. He has continued his success in 2019 by winning decisions over Gerald Meerschaert and Alessio Di Chirico.
A former LFA champion, Roufusport’s Allen burst into the spotlight with a dominant submission victory over Aaron Jeffrey on Dana White’s Contender Series in July. The performance impressed the UFC brass and earned Allen a UFC deal.
With the new addition, here’s the latest UFC on ESPN 6 lineup:
The current UFC on ESPN 6 lineup is as follows:
LAS VEGAS – UFC light heavyweight Bogdan Guskov will have bragging rights over his fellow fighters from Uzbekistan. Guskov (16-3 MMA, 2-1 UFC) will likely find a number next to his name when the promotion releases its updated rankings following UFC on ESPN 55. In the co-main event at...
LAS VEGAS – Victor Henry is back in the win column. This time, he avoided getting kicked in the testicles – and that feels good. On the UFC on ESPN 55 prelims, Henry (24-6 MMA, 3-1 UFC) defeated seasoned veteran Rani Yahya (28-12-1 MMA, 13-6-1 UFC) with a barrage...
