UFC on ESPN+ 19 reactions: Winning and losing fighters on social media

Since the early days when the sport was anything but a mainstream endeavor, the MMA industry has thrived and survived through various websites, forums, and – perhaps most importantly – social-media platforms.

Fighters interact with fans, each other and many more through the likes of Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, which helps outsiders get a deeper look into the minds of the athletes.

Following Saturday’s UFC on ESPN+ 19 in Tampa, Fla., several of the winning and losing fighters, along with their coaches, training partners or family members, took to social media to react to the event or share a message with supporters.

Check out some of those reactions.

Wow what a weekend! I did not get the win this weekend in Tampa but I learned a whole lot. “You win some and you lose some” is what my daughter told me after the fight, if she can have a positive attitude in defeat then I can too. I’m overwhelmed and super thankful for all the positive and supportive people in my life right now it makes it way easier to face defeat and keep on going. Thank you to everyone for supporting and following me on this crazy journey. I will be back and I will be better👊🏾👊🏾 @m.farmerclark605 @chadinspiremma @matt_forgedstrength @mmacoachwink @jonnybones @performanceranch @mentalsensei @garrettsfight @mataleonmgmt @poppadoxpub @crystalcreekorganics @cheathamchurch @jacksonwink_mma @madrussian29 @borderstatemedia @dr.beauhightower

Gotta give it to Mike. Dude hits hard. This was me when I got to the hospital last night. I got rocked the first round and just couldn’t recover, I’m sorry to everyone I let down. I’m better than this. I was prepared to fight Brok Weaver, but when that fight fell through last minute, I just wanted to fight, so I accepted this fight. I’m a fighter. It’s in my blood. I was hungry to get in there. Y’all need to go listen to the song called “Hard Love” by @needtobreathe. It’s motivating and encouraging. No matter how down you get, just tell yourself…”down but not out.” What a great song. Jesus is so good y’all. I walked out of that cage with no injuries at all after all the punishment I took. Anyone have good remedies for a speedy recovery? . . “Trading punches with the heart of darkness. Going to blows with your fear incarnate. Never gone until it’s stripped away. A part of you has gotta die today. In the morning you gon’ need an answer. Ain’t nobody gonna change the standard. It’s not enough to just feel the flame, you’ve gotta burn your old self away. Hold on tight a little longer. What don’t kill ya, makes ya stronger. Get back up, ’cause it’s a hard love. You can’t change without a fallout. It’s gon’ hurt, but don’t you slow down. Get back up, ’cause it’s a hard love. You know the situation can’t be right, when all you ever do is fight. But there’s a reason that the road is long. It takes some time to make your courage strong.” . . #ufc #ufctampa #theyounglion #heartofalion #neverquit

The LORD is my light and my salvation — whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life — of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked advance against me to devour me, it is my enemies and my foes who will stumble and fall. Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then I will be confident. Psalm 27:1-3 . . Even with being in a rocked mindset; ears ringing — not being able to hear my coaches, blurry vision from blood dripping in my eyes and being rocked — not being able to really grasp what is happening, other than knowing I’m in a fight, there was still one thing I knew for certain, God was with me. I had no confusion in that. He was with me the whole time. I had no fear because He was with me in the octagon. Even when I’m not in the right mindset, I know who to call on. He will never fail me. All glory to the righteous One — my King. My faith is unshakable. #JesusSaves #Faith #UFC #UFCTampa #TheYoungLion

Been a couple of days reflecting on everything. I remember a few yrs ago after I had my first loss in the UFC my brother @lockloadedmma sent me this. It is definitely meaning alot to me right now. During this camp I focused so hard on fixing some of the technical issues I have had in the past. Especially keeping my hands up. And I feel I have made significant progress in those areas. Then I go out and get caught with a up kick 😥 such a low percentage move and super embarrassing to get hit with that. Props to my opponent @hybridufc for being able to land that type of move in high level fight. Much respect to you. To the people who support me thank you so much and the ones that don’t I don’t really care. I am going to continue to be me. I am Texas born and raised. A lifelong hunter and outdoorsman so I will continue to hunt and fish and post pictures of this kind of stuff so if this is something you hate then please just unfollow me. I am home now with minimum damage. My CT scan was negative. My lip is busted up and probably have a MCL torn in my right knee from landing on it weirdly. I am at home with my son and family and am at peace at the moment looking forward to the holidays with them. What the future holds only God knows but I have to much to be thankful for and a son that looks up to me to be negative and allow this stuff to keep me down. Thanks to all and God bless.

Hello everyone just a quick check in. Took the day to be with my family and my thoughts. Not gonna lie, I’m sad and that’s ok. It’s all good. Just a couple of black eyes… We prepared for victory but that’s the fight game. Yesterday wasn’t my night. As in life when things don’t go our way we say to ourselves “if only” or “what if this, and what if that”.. I’m there right now and I could replay the fight in my mind a million times, but the moment has passed and moving forward is the only direction we go. I have so many things to be grateful for. My husband, my daughter, my family, my friends, my coaches, my teammates, my fans all around ther world, and this beautiful life! Thank you for all the love and energy you give me. It’s a game of inches and I will be back. Thank you @joannajedrzejczyk for sharing the octagon with me and congratulations on your victory. @joshuagomeznm #ufctampa #momchamp
