The lineup for Bellator’s return to the Los Angeles area next month continues to build with the addition of a new lightweight fight.
A.J. Agazarm (1-1 MMA, 1-1 BMMA) and Jonathan Quiroz (3-3 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) will fight close to home when they meet at Bellator 228. Promotion officials announced the new booking Friday.
Bellator 228 takes place Sept. 28 at The Forum in Inglewood, Calif., near Los Angeles. The main card streams on DAZN following prelims on MMA Junkie. Agazarm and Quiroz both are based in the Los Angeles area.
Highly touted Brazilian jiu-jitsu standout Agazarm made his pro MMA debut in January, but suffered a split-decision loss to fellow debutant Jesse Roberts at Bellator 214. But a month ago, he bounced back with a first-round rear-naked choke submission win over Jacob Landin at Bellator 224 in Oklahoma for his first pro win.
Quiroz will be making his Bellator debut. In May, he returned from a layoff of nearly two years and snapped a two-fight skid with a TKO win over Julian Baez in Lights Out Xtreme Fighting’s inaugural event.
With the addition, the Bellator 228 lineup includes:

McGregor hasn’t competed...
LAS VEGAS – Karine Silva has heard the praise. Even though the narratives are largely complementary, Silva (17-3 MMA, 3-0 UFC) admits her run toward UFC notoriety isn’t as quick and effortless as it may seem. “It wasn’t quick, guys. It wasn’t fast,” Silva told MMA Junkie and other...
