Bellator 283 video: Kamaru Usman protege Archie Colgan blasts Bryan Nuro with overhand right, scores knockout

Archie Colgan trains with some of the best fighters in the world – and it showed at Bellator 283.

In the preliminary card opener, Colgan (5-0 MMA, 2-0 BMMA) put a beating on tough gritty opponent Bryan Nuro (8-5 MMA, 0-1 BMMA) and won by TKO at 1:15 of Round 3.

Bellator 283 took place Friday at Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma, Wash.

Colgan, a training partner of the likes of Kamaru Usman and Justin Gaethje, showed a well-rounded attack in the two-plus rounds prior to the finish. A wrestler in roots, Colgan showed off his striking for the majority of the fight. Outside of a head kick in Round 2, Nuro struggled to muster much offense.

In Round 3, Colgan dumped Nuro to the canvas. From there, he swarmed with punches and ground-and-pound. Nuro rose up but the swarm didn’t stop. As Nuro retreated to the cage, Colgan cranked him with a big overhand right that ended the fight.

Colgan turned 27 the same day as his first Bellator victory. The bout was the first of his promotional tenure while on a multifight deal. He competed in a one-off in August 2021 when he slammed and finished Ben Simmons at Bellator 265.
