Bobby Green: Being on UFC 300 is ‘f*cking sick,’ vows to ‘close the curtains’ on Jim Miller

LAS VEGAS – For Bobby Green, UFC 300 is just another fight week in the fight capital of the world, but the lightweight veteran appreciates a spot on the milestone event.

Green (31-15-1 MMA, 12-10-1 UFC) is set to face Jim Miller at T-Mobile Arena, an opponent he was scheduled to fight on three other occasions.

Regardless of the opponent, does fighting on UFC 300 mean anything special to Green?

“Yeah, and no,” Green told MMA Junkie and other reporters at Wednesday’s media day. “I’ll tell you both sides: One, to me it’s just another fight. I don’t know. It’s supposed to be 300, but to me, it just feels like another fight.

“But at the same time, like I am super honored. I’m honored that I’m on this card, because there could have been 1,000 other people that was on this card that I can think of. The fact they threw my ass on there, you know, little poor me, it’s f*cking sick.”

Miller (37-17 MMA, 26-16 UFC) is a matchup that has fallen apart repeatedly for various reasons. Green recalled a knee injury that canceled the first booking in 2014. Seven years later, Green received a short-notice call to face Miller, but he collapsed after weigh-ins. The pair were set to meet again in July 2022, but Green failed a drug test, leading to another cancellation.

“We definitely going to close the curtains on him,” Green said. “Fourth time’s a charm. … Maybe it’s meant to be. Maybe it wasn’t worth it for 40 grand. Maybe it wasn’t worth it for 80 grand. Maybe it wasn’t worth it for 100 grand. Now we’re getting closer to 200s.”
