Add Conor McGregor to the list of people feeling the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
In a lengthy statement issued in an Instagram post Friday, former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion McGregor (22-4 MMA, 10-2 UFC) expressed his frustration with COVID-19. In addition to a self-assessment of hygiene and hand-shaking, McGregor revealed his aunt, Anne Moore, died.
“I get a phone call telling me that my lovely little auntie Anne had passed away,” McGregor wrote. “I couldn’t go live anymore. My poor little friendly loving auntie. My mother’s sister. This stupid (expletive) virus. What the (expletive) is happening.”
McGregor did not reveal any more details, but expressed what he felt in the wake of the recent events.
“I took my family to bull island. Looked out at the sea. Took a deep breath. Thank (expletive)! Lord thank you Stay tight people! We are all we got.”
Along with his words, McGregor posted 10 images. The photos included him with fiancee Dee Devlin, their two children, and various others, presumably family and friends.
In the lengthy post, McGregor said the photos were snapped “the other day” – the same day he was announcing a donation to first responder charity Stephen Siller Tunnel to Tower Foundation.
