Darren Till, Mike Perry engage in verbal spar: ‘I’d knock you clean out with a jab’

Darren Till and Mike Perry have reignited their feud in hopes of finally getting matched up.

Till and Perry once seemed to be on a collision course while in the UFC after they faced off in the cage when Till knocked out Donald Cerrone in Poland in 2017. A fight between the pair never materialized in the octagon, but Till and Perry did take part in an infamous sparring session.

Perry invited Till on his Overdogs Podcast where they recounted their sparring session and discussed a potential fight.

“My boxing’s just on fire at the moment,” Till said. “I think I would probably knock you out with a jab. Like, that’s just me being real, bro. I don’t know, man. I think I’d knock you clean out with a jab.”

Perryresponded to Till by referencing their sparring session.

“Yeah, when we sparred those years ago, your boxing, you had a good straight left, you had your muay Thai hips, but I ate that straight left because I wanted to feel it,” Perry said. “Then I just got inside and boop, boop, boop.”

Till claimed their sparring session was a war, but Perry disagreed.

“It was fun, but it wasn’t a war. We were both holding back,” Perry said. “It was awkward training at a random time.”

Till revealed that Perry, in fact, cut him during their sparring session, but he doesn’t take that too much into account for a potential fight,

“Everyone asks who won,” Till said. “Let me tell you something: For the last six years, I have never once mentioned who won the spar because I just think sparring doesn’t mean a thing. So, Mike cut me actually. And then the guy came out and said that he thought I won, but I don’t carry any weight with that.”

Perry, who’s had plenty of success under the BKFC banner with wins over Julian Lane, Michael Page, and Luke Rockhold, has a different viewpoint on sparring. He is the current backup for the boxing match between Logan Paul and Dillon Danis on Oct. 14.

“Well, that’s your choice,” Perry said. “See me, I’ve been going into sparring for the past couple years, thinking there are people there to watch. There are families, there are people who watch when I get in the ring at the gym, and they f*cking stand there and, just like the fans at a show, they want to be entertained.

“And they’re going to make a decision mentally, even if they don’t say so, who won in their head. How is Mike looking? How did he do? Does he look like he’s ready for a fight? So I go into sparring with the mentality that it’s me or it’s you, and I’m winning every f*cking chance I get.”

Former title challenger Till opted to part ways with the UFC in February and is looking to explore other ventures such as boxing or bare-knuckle boxing, before attempting to make his way back to the octagon.
