ST. LOUIS – Six fights into his professional career, Roman Faraldo has already built himself a thorough highlight reel.
Whether it was his jumping knee knockout of Pat Casey, his 90-second barrage against 6-foot-7 opponent Trevor Gudde, or his ridiculous flying knee knockout of Robert Turnquest, Faraldo (6-0 MMA, 3-0 BMMA) has proved he has some violence inside him.
“Each one is a little different, man,” Faraldo told MMA Junkie at a Bellator 276 pre-fight news conference Thursday. “It’s been an original in each fight. Just stay tuned and watch for some brutal viciousness.”
Faraldo embraces the reputation as someone who is going to deliver excitement. While many other fighters say they just let the finish come to them, Faraldo admits it’s something he shoots for. It’s a “healthy pressure,” according to the American Top Team product.
“It’s just hard work,” Faraldo said. “Every day is a grind so we just stay consistent in the gym. I’m continuing to grow and (will) continue to put on shows. At the end of the day, it’s entertainment. I come out here to entertain my fans. People want to see something extraordinary and, like you say, highlight – to put on highlight reels. That’s what I’m coming out here to do.
“You know if you tune into my fights, you’re going to see something spectacular, no matter what happens. … I definitely put pressure on myself and it’s healthy pressure. I expect the best out of myself and I surround myself with the best to continue to push myself. No matter what, I will deliver.”
Bellator 276 takes place Saturday at The Family Arena in St. Charles, Mo. The main card airs on Showtime after prelims on MMA Junkie. Faraldo takes on Kelvin Rayford (5-3 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) in the third fight of the night.
