Impa Kasanganay’s callout list includes Daniel Rodriguez, Mickey Gall and Song Kenan

"

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. – Impa Kasanganay wants to continue the momentum of his second UFC win by fighting a recognizable name next.

After being on the receiving end of the 2020 “Knockout of the Year” from Joaquin Buckley last October, Kasanganay (9-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) made his way back to the octagon at UFC on ABC 2 this month to submit Sasha Palatnikov in his welterweight debut.

The 170-pound division is flooded with high-level talent, and there are multiple names Kasanganay would be ready and willing to sign up for.

“Looking at (the division), I really respect D-Rod (Daniel Rodriguez),” Kasanganay told MMA Junkie. “I think he’s a good fighter, and he’s looking to fight soon. There’s Mickey Gall, Sean Brady. There’s a lot of good guys. I’m just looking to test my mettle and get up there, get finishes and work my way to the title. I think there’s a guy, Kenan Song. He’s a good fighter.”

Kasanganay clearly isn’t too picky, but he certainly wants a foe who will carry him forward in his career. Training full time at Sanford MMA in Florida, Kasanganay feels his skillset is coming a long way on a daily basis.

He said that hard training is keeping his weight in a manageable spot, and that could allow him to sign up for a welterweight fight immediately.

“I’m ready to take a fight at any moment,” Kasanganay said. “(Keep my weight) in the low 90s, high 80s and just ready to get after it and advance my career.”
