Mike Rodriguez shared a pretty cool story ahead of his fight Saturday.
Rodriguez, who faces Danilo Marques at UFC Fight Night 184, will be sharing the card with one of his idols Alistair Overeem, who faces Alexander Volkov in the night’s headliner.
A longtime fan of “The ‘Reem,” Rodriguez recalls taking a photo with the heavyweight legend while working his shift at an airport when he was just an amateur fighter.
Now, seven years later, Rodriguez is on the same card as Overeem – a dream come true for “Slow Mike.”
“2014: I was a fan working at the airport and I was a amateur 2021: I’m still a fan!!! But now I’m on the undercard.”

There’s nothing quite like a feel-good story in MMA and Rodriguez is a perfect example of it. The 32-year-old Boston native will look to get back in the win column after suffering a controversial submission loss to Ed Herman in his most recent outing in September.
In 11 pro wins, Rodriguez has never gone the distance, and he’ll be hoping to pick up another stoppage victory Saturday night.

McGregor hasn’t competed...
LAS VEGAS – Karine Silva has heard the praise. Even though the narratives are largely complementary, Silva (17-3 MMA, 3-0 UFC) admits her run toward UFC notoriety isn’t as quick and effortless as it may seem. “It wasn’t quick, guys. It wasn’t fast,” Silva told MMA Junkie and other...
