Logan Storley: Yaroslav Amosov and I both improved, but I’ve made big jumps since we first fought

"

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. – Logan Storley vows he’s a much improved fighter since his first outing with Yaroslav Amosov.

Storley’s lone loss came in a split decision loss to Amosov in November 2020, but the NCAA Division-I wrestler since has rebounded with three straight wins, including capturing the interim welterweight title against Michael Page at Bellator 281 in May.

With three straight wins and back-to-back five-round fights, Storley (14-1 MMA, 9-1 BMMA) expects a different outing with reigning Bellator welterweight champion Amosov (26-0 MMA, 7-0 BMMA) when they rematch.

“I think you saw it in those fights before with (Neiman) Gracie and then (Michael Page),” Storley told MMA Junkie at Kill Cliff Fight Club. “Gracie was 25 minutes standup, sprawl-and-brawl kind of fight. And then the ‘MVP’ fight was – I think my timing was much better. Obviously ‘MVP,’ he’s a puzzle. He’s a tough puzzle – especially in MMA with his knees and his kicks and his distance. But Amosov looked great against (Douglas) Lima. I really think we both improved, but I think I’ve made big jumps since 2020 when we last fought.

“I’m 14-1. I think he’s (26-0). I want that 0, too. So as a competitor, being a competitor since I was young, that’s what it is. But now it’s really about unifying the belts and just getting this one back.”

Amosov joined the Ukraine military earlier this year to defend his country from the ongoing Russian invasion. Storley hasn’t been told when the pair will run things back, but will continue to prepare in the meantime.

“It’s going to be me and Amosov, is kind of what I’ve been told,” Storley said. “Timetable, I do not know yet. So all I can do is to continue to get ready. I think he’s back in Germany now training, so obviously we wish him the best. But I’m excited to get that one back.”
