Sean O’Malley suggests Jorge Masvidal, Mike Perry as potential next opponents for Jake Paul

Sean O’Malley sees two former UFC fighters as good options for Jake Paul’s next boxing match.

Paul (7-1) defeated Nate Diaz by unanimous decision this past Saturday at American Airlines Center. The 185-pound boxing match served as the feature bout of the boxing event, and aired live on DAZN/ESPN+ pay-per-view.

O’Malley was impressed with Diaz’s showing, but he’s more excited to see what’s next for “The Problem Child.”

“Nate looked really good,” O’Malley said on his YouTube channel. “I thought it was a way closer fights than the scorecards. Jake definitely got the job done but that was a sick fight, that was entertaining. That was f*cking impressive from both of them. I just want to keep seeing Jake winning and fighting motherf*ckers.”

Paul angled for an MMA fight with Diaz next, but if he were to lace up the gloves against another MMA fighter, O’Malley likes Jorge Masvidal or Mike Perry as options.

“It depends, Jorge Masvidal, Mike Perry,” O’Malley said. “Like dude, there’s still fights.”

O’Malley was also watching a pivotal bantamweight main event matchup between Cory Sandhagen and Rob Font take place right before Paul and Diaz hit the ring. O’Malley lauded Sandhagen for his game plan, but was not entertained. Sandhagen defeated Font by unanimous decision, where he used a heavy grapple approach to control the fight.

“As a fighter, it’s super f*cking impressive what Cory did,” O’Malley said. “But, as a fan entertainment right here, sitting here – bored.”

O’Malley (16-1 MMA, 8-1 UFC) challenges bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling (23-3 MMA, 15-3 UFC) in the main event of UFC 292 on Aug. 19 at TD Garden in Boston. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on ESPN and ESPN+.
