Jorge Masvidal has never been more popular in his MMA career, but he’s also never been in a deeper hole in terms of consecutive losses after his UFC 272 grudge match with Colby Covington.
Masvidal (35-16 MMA, 12-9 UFC) losing skid hit three consecutive fights on Saturday when he lost a unanimous decision to Covington (17-3 MMA, 12-3 UFC) in the anticipated clash of former friends who became rivals. “Gamebred” has a couple moments in the fight, but he was largely outworked in the welterweight headliner at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
After back-to-back title-fight losses to champion Kamaru Usman, Masvidal needed this win to get some momentum back. It went the other way, though, and he’s now on the longest drought of his career, albeit against the higher of the high tier when it comes to competition.
So, how does Masvidal pick up the pieces and move forward? Watch the video above for thoughts and analysis on his future after UFC 272.
