Marlon Vera shined in his first main event Saturday when he defeated Rob Font in a clash of bantamweight contenders at UFC on ESPN 35.
Vera (19-7-1 MMA, 13-6 UFC) used small opportunities to create big moments by dropping Font (19-6 MMA, 9-5 UFC) three times over the course of five rounds to earn a unanimous decision win at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
With nine victories in his past 11 fights and back-to-back wins over Font and former UFC champ Frankie Edgar, “Chito” has etched a place for himself in the upper tier of a loaded 135-pound weight class.
