Titan FC COO Lex McMahon set to make MMA debut at age 49

Never let it be said Titan FC COO Lex McMahon is one of those combat sports executives who never actually stepped into the ring himself.

The 49-year old McMahon announced during Friday night’s Titan FC 64 that he will step into the cage to fight Justin Thornton in the main event of Fighting Force 4. The UFC Fight Pass-streamed card will be held on Nov. 21 in the Dominican Republic.

“Why does the old man want to get his ass whooped and get after it?” McMahon said after the announcement of the fight.
For 12 years, I’ve been asking these fighters to go in and fight so I can make money and my partner can make money.”

McMahon, who was one of the sport’s leading agents before going into the fight promotion business, acknowledged what’s often thought about fight promoters who never competed, but not often said out loud.

“It feels a big inauthentic and disingenuous to not have done this,” McMahon said. “All these feelings, all these emotions, hard work, pain and suffering, I’m gonna go through it. I’ve been going through it quietly behind the scenes.”

McMahon plans on donating his fight purse to AHERO, a charity that address Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and suicide among military veterans. McMahon sits on the board of the charity.

Thornton, a 37-year-old competitor from Louisiana, has a record of 6-17. He’s on a four-fight losing streak, and has fought UFC standouts Walt Harris and Chase Sherman.
