LAS VEGAS – MMAjunkie is on scene and reporting live from today’s UFC 226 event, and you can join us for live play-by-play and official results beginning at 7 p.m. ET (4 p.m. PT).

The event takes place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, and the main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass.

In the main event, heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic (18-2 MMA, 12-2 UFC) puts his belt on the line when he meets light-heavyweight titleholder Daniel Cormier (20-1 MMA, 9-1 UFC). In the co-headliner, heavyweight contenders Francis Ngannou (11-2 MMA, 6-1 UFC) and Derrick Lewis (19-5 MMA, 10-3 UFC) clash.

Current fight

Michael Chiesa vs. Anthony Pettis

Round 1 – Chiesa quickly to the center and lands a right hand that staggers Pettis. Chiesa pushes immediately inside on a takedown. Pettis tries to wrap the neck, but Chiesa takes him to the floor and clears the legs, so Pettis has to let go and settle for half-guard. Chiesa tries to set up an arm-triangle, but it’s not there. He rolls out to attack the arm, but Pettis rolls at the perfect time to move to his opponent’s back. Chiesa stands and tries to spin inside for another takedown but has to reset in the center. Chiesa doesn’t bother to hide his following takedown attempts, moving into the clinch and eventually wrapping the waist and dragging his opponent to the floor. Chiesa postures to pass and attack, and Pettis answers with a sweet little capoeira kick that gets him enough space to rise. Strikes traded on the feet. Chiesa wants a takedown, but it’s not there. Chiesa looks tired already. Leaping kick from Pettis lands. Straight right at the bell sits Chiesa down. MMAjunkie leans toward Chiesa, 10-9, in the first, but momentum on Pettis’ side.

Round 2 – Pettis with a big kick to the body. Straight right lands. He’s all over Chiesa and drops him. Pettis jumps on the neck and squeezes for the guillotine. It’s tight, but Chiesa survives and is now on top. It’s no relief. Pettis goes for the triangle. Chiesa rolls, but Pettis switches to the armbar. It’s there, and Chiesa has to tap. Amazing sequence for the win.

Jamie Moyle vs. Emily Whitmire

Round 1 – Whitmire misses on an early high kick, but she’s the aggressor to start, moving forward with punches. Moyle bouncing on the outside and looking to move in and out of her opponent’s long range. Moyle moving back and forth, and they briefly clinch, but there’s nothing there. Whitmire with an inside low kick. They trade punches in a flurry. Moyle lands a clean left hand but eats a straight right in return. Whitmire waiting right now, and her coaches implore her to be first. Another low kick from Whitmire, and she digs to the body with a right hand. Whitmire is the busier fighter now, and she lands a nice right hand up top. Flurry of punches sees her land a clean left, as well, in the final minute. Moyle moving well, but every time she throws, Whitmire counters well. Round ends on the feet, and MMAjunkie gives it to Whitmire, 10-9.

Round 2 – Moyle a little more aggressive to open, and she finds the mark. Whitmire has to step back and reset. Whitmire high kick blocked, and her corner continues to call fro aggression. Moyle moves into the clinch and pushes to the fence, but Whitmire slips away with relative ease. Whitmire punching and defends well when Moyle tries to change levels. They continue to trade punches, and Moyle again changes levels and moves inside. Whitmire defends well and even delivers a knee as they break. Whitmire then shoots inside on the reset and briefly allows Moyle a dominant position when she reverses. However, Whitmire immediately pops back to her feet and moves away to reset. Moyle having a better round on the feet. She pushes inside for the takedown once again. Whitmire defends well against the fence and immediately slips away.Moyle with a nice left on the restart. Moyle the one moving froward now, and she’s finding the mark. The left hook landing clean. Round ends again on the feet, and MMAjunkie leans Moyle, 10-9.

Round 3 – Whitmire out quickly and looks to strike first. Several punches and a high kick. Right hand lands. Whitmire drops down and hits the double, slamming Moyle to the canvas. Whitmire stands and tries to drive past the legs but has to settle for half-guard. Moyle turns to her right, trying to escape, but Whitmire wraps the body with her right hand and punches the face with her left. Moyle bucks her hips but can’t quite elevate her opponent. Whitmire staying busy with punches on top. Moyle trying to escape was time winds down, but Whitmire is heavy on top. The base is firm, and she continues to punch away, allowing her to keep the position. Moyle trying to isolate the left arm and pull off something special late in the round. She can’t get it, but the distraction allows her to move to gull guard. Whitmire stands and tries to pass, punching and landing while Moyle tries to upkick. Moyle desperate to move in the final seconds. She tries to attack the right leg, but Whitmire punches down. Upkick lands clean, cutting Whitmire over the left eye. Round ends there. MMAjunkie gives it to Whitmire, 10-9, awarding her the fight 29-28.

Dan Hooker vs. Gilbert Burns

Round 1 – Burns takes the center, with Hooker moving right on the outside. Low kicks from Burns. Spinning kick to the body. He’s busy early. Low kick from Hooker countered with a right hand. Low kicks traded. Burns very busy early. Hooker moving well on the outside to avoid. Hooker with a few straight punches, including one to the body. He clips Burns but refuses to go to the floor. Burns shoots on the restart, and Hooker tries to gran a guillotine Not quite there, so he lets go and again moves to the feet. Burns aggressive, and Hooker scores a knee that wobbles his opponent. He sees it and moves in for the kill. Left hand lands clean, and Burns hits the floor. One hammerfist from Hooker, and this is over. Brutal.

Curtis Millender vs. Max Griffin

Round 1 – Griffin aggressive to start, moving laterally and jumping in with punches against his taller foe. Griffin thinks takedown, but it’s not there. Millender just misses on a crushing knee. Quick pace to start. Griffin with a right to the body. Another leaping knee attempt from Millender. Low kick scores for Millender. Another sweeps Griffin to his knees, but he pops right back up. Millender high kick blocked. Griffin punches his way inside and immediately changes levels, wrapping the body and taking the fight to the floor. Well-timed. Half-guard for Millender. Griffin postures for a few short elbows. Millender’s head against the cage, limiting his options for escape. He’s trying to hold tight for a restart. Crowd getting restless, and Griffin postures and punches to keep his position. Referee Jason Herzog watching closely, and the crowd wants a restart. Griffin staying just busy enough to keep the position. Not a lot of damage, but a lot of control as the round ends, and MMAjunkie gives it to Griffin, 10-9.

Round 2 – Griffin moving laterally, trying not to give his opponent an easy target. Millender switching stances and looking to strike. Low kick from Griffin. Left to the body for Millender. Flying knee from Millender looks dangerous but misses. Two-punch combination for Griffin lands clean. He tries to shoot inside right after, but Millender is able to push him away. Millender high kick just blocked. His speed is evident Griffin drives inside but gets his neck trapped and has to pause his efforts to get himself free. Left hook for Griffin answered by a straight right from Millender. Millender comfortable on his feet, but Griffin’s work rate is keeping this tight. Millender with a big left that staggers his opponent. He rushes forward and eats a straight right but presses and drags the action to the floor. Millender postures to hammerfist and then stands before the bell. MMAjunkie gives it to Millender, 10-9.

Round 3 – Griffin very aggressive to open. He’s rushing froward with combination. Millender with a nice counter knee. Millender kicking the legs a bit. Another leaping knee hits the body. Griffin trying get inside but is tagged by a right. Millender’s speed and power still evident. Griffin punches his way into a clinch. Millender sprawling against the cage. Griffin does not want to give this position away. He keeps the bodylock tight and stomps the feet. Millender defending well agains the fence and finds an opportunity to drop in a few elbows. Millender forces his way off the fence. Griffin tries to keep the position, but Millender wraps the neck, and Griffin has to back away. Ninety seconds left. Fight could hand in the balance. Griffin with a right but can’t get to the body. Another right lands. Millender pushes forward and just misses the big knee. Uppercut for Millender scores. Straight right staggers Griffin. He shakes it off and moves back to the center. Millender rushing now, and he lands. He takes a look at the clock: 30 seconds left. They trade a bit more to close. incredibly close round. MMAjunkie leans slightly toward Millender, 10-9, awarding him the fight 29-28. Going to be tight.

Lando Vannata vs. Drakkar Klose

Round 1 – Quick clinch to start and some dirty boxing inside. Vannata slips around to the back and takes the action to the canvas but can’t quite capitalize, so they break away. On the restart, Klose moves inside and tries to lift and lam his opponent to the canvas. Vannata stays upright with great balance. Quick pace to start. Klose with a nice kick to the body. Vannata moving well and land a clean combination to the body and head. Nice work from both to start. Klose low kicks lands just as Vannata wanted to spin. Klose follows with a right. Again in the clinch, but no takedown, so they reset. Creative kicks from Vannata answered with a big right from Klose. Vannata switching stances and trying to flow, but Klose is being a bully in the pocket, muscling his opponent in the clinch and dirty boxing. Vannata wants a ship toss but eats a big right before the bell. MMAjunkie leans toward Klose, 10-9.

Round 2 – Klose kicks the body to start. Vannata pushes back and lands a big spinning kicks. Flurry of punches follows from both men. Aggressive work from both. Vannata punches his way in tight, but Klose again scores in tight and shoves him away. Vannata hanging his hands a bit. Klose with a low kick, and that lead leg of Vannata is really banged up already. Another low kick from Klose stops Vannata in his tracks. Elbow up to from Klose. Clinch, and Vannata wants a hip toss, but Klose counters perfectly and nearly takes the top but can’t hold the action down. Right hand for Vannata. He spins, but Klose tags him perfectly with a right that sees Vannata stagger. Ninety seconds left. Big right for Vannata over the top. He changes levels but is stuffed. Klose low kick again knocks Vannata off-balance. Vannata’s right eye busted up a bit from Klose’s jab, as well. Close round, but MMAjunkie leans Klose, 10-9.

Round 3 – Vannata with a low kicks to open. Klose answers with the same. Vannata spinning back kick to the body. Klose still pumping his jab. Vannata with a big kick to the body. Vannata switch kick just misses. Klose fires a huge right in return that just misses, as well. Both men still throwing with real power. Little gamesmanship with bot men pointing to the floor. Klose with a crisp Superman punch that lands clean. He moves inside and starts looking to grind. Vannata defending against the cage. Klose trying to find the takedown, but it’s not there. Referee Mark Smith breaks them apart with a little more than 90 seconds. Klose jabbing right away. Vannata changes levels with a smooth takedown that sees him slip immediately to the back. Klose on his knees, but Vannata too high on the back and ends up bailing on the position. They restart on the feet, and Klose wraps the legs and takes the actin to the floor. Vannata bloodied but gets to a seated position and moves back to his feet. Round ends, and MMAjunkie gives it again to Klose, 10-9, awarding him the fight 30-27. Great fight.
