UFC news: Vanessa Demopoulos set to face Jinh Yu Frey at June 25 event
An upcoming UFC event on June 25 is beginning to take shape by adding a fun strawweight matchup to the card.
Vanessa Demopoulos returns to action in her third UFC appearance to face the surging Jinh Yu Frey. Both Demopoulos and Frey shared news of the booking on social media following an initial report from Eurosport Nederland. The UFC Fight Night event does not yet have a confirmed location or venue.
Demopoulos, 33, last competed at UFC 270 in January against Silvana Gomez Juarez. The former LFA strawweight champion made a statement by finishing the fight in the first round via armbar, jumping in the arms of commentator Joe Rogan during her post-fight interview, and also took home a Performance of the Night bonus.
Frey, 36, enters her fifth UFC contest on the heels of two-straight victories. In 2021, the former Invicta atomweight champion picked up consecutive unanimous decision victories over Gloria de Paula and Ashley Yoder.
With the addition, the June 25 lineup includes:
- Amir Albazi vs. Tim Elliott
- Vanessa Demopolous vs. Jinh Yu Frey
